Re: [SOLVED] Epson Perfection V39 Scanner Won't work in Linux
That's good to know. The version I had (I uninstalled it) was whatever is in the repository. I may have to spring for the paid version, then.
edit: I checked in the repository and the version there is 9.7.29.

Re: [SOLVED] Epson Perfection V39 Scanner Won't work in Linux
Thanks for the reply. I've been using Documant Scanner and Epson Scan 2 . I decided to try VueScan so I installed it from the repository. When I launched it, it said I had an Epson V39 Scanner. When I tried to scan, though, it told me no scanners were found. VueScanError.png I tried Document Scanner...

Re: [SOLVED] Epson Perfection V39 Scanner Won't work in Linux
Thanks for the link, Frank. It's always best to use the latest drivers. My scanner has been working fine except that once I'm done scanning, if I close the scanning application, either "Document Scanner" or "Epson Scan 2", it wouldn't find the scanner again and I would have to re...

Re: Scanner Driver Needs Reboot
[SOLVED] Epson L-3150 scanner not detected has some info about ipp-usb and sane-airscan. Because it seems the driver is either disappearing or needs initialized again, this might be more of a Printers & Scanners issue rather than a software issue. Maybe the answer to your issue is in that secti...

Re: Scanner Driver Needs Reboot
Thanks for the reply, SMG. Per the new features page, "Both ipp-usb and sane-airscan are available in the Linux Mint 20.1 repositories. Try them out if you can't get your printer or scanner to work with software drivers." ipp-usp wasn't in the repository but sane-airscan was so I installed...

But once I close t...

Re: How Do I Get "Print to PDF"? [SOLVED]
I just want a printer driver option for the job that will work with pretty much any program. There is such a thing, by the way. It's called cups-pdf (full name, printer-driver-cups-pdf) and available in repo (can install with Software Manager, Synaptic Package Manager or in Terminal, apt install cu...

Re: How Do I Get "Print to PDF"?
Print to File! That is what I wanted. I am totally humbled that I never figured that out. That's enough to make one feel kind of unaware. Many thanks for the direction.

How Do I Get "Print to PDF"? [SOLVED]
In my list of printer drivers, "Print to PDF" is not an option. How do I get a driver installed in Mint 20.1 to add that driver? I looked through the listings in the software manager but couldn't identify one. I don't want to have an application like Libre Office Draw that will create a pd...

Re: How Do I Install A Program Using Wine?
Thank you, Flemur. I put wine as the default program and it worked great. I'll also take the space out of the folder name so it won't cause a problem in the future. I'll also remember to not put spaces in those again.
I'll mark this thread solved. Many, thanks!

Re: How Do I Install A Program Using Wine?
Did you type "Wine" or "wine"? Makes a difference. wine setup64.exe worked just fine Thasnks. I had typed "Wine" so I tried "wine" and the file name. That netted this. rg@rg-All-Series:~$ wine ApexMedinav4Appraiser.exe 0009:err:module:__wine_process_init L&qu...

Re: How Do I Install A Program Using Wine?
If you open a command prompt and type Wine <name of program you want to install> it should work. Does for me. Thanks, I appreciate the reply but this doesn't seem to be enough information. I tried that with the name of the installation file and got the message that the command "Wine" wasn...

How Do I Install A Program Using Wine? [SOLVED]
I have recently installed Mint 20.1 Cinnamon. To install a Windows type program in previous versions of Mint, I would right click on the .exe file and choose the option to install with Wine. That option isn't available with this version of Mint. How Do I install a Windows program using Wine?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Change Grub Timeout in Mint 20.1? [SOLVED]
I like a shorter boot default time of 3 seconds instead of 10. I asked how to do this in earlier versions of Mint and now need to do it in Mint 20.1. I think the line I want to change in grub is: GRUB_TIMEOUT=0 to GRUB_TIMEOUT=3 gksu gedit /etc/default/grub doesn't work in Mint 20.1. I installed ged...

Thanks for the additional information, Andy. That article did the trick for me. I will go back and add a #line to explain what that line does. The file system on mine was ext4 also.

Re: Get Mint To Recognize A New Drive As Local?
Thanks for the replies. You don't. How the drive is presented to the operating system is under the complete control of your machine's BIOS. There may be some highly esoteric udev incantations that can be thrown at it but not many of us are so proficient in udev . More than likely your extra drive is...
