Re: Linux Mint 13 "Maya" released!

I recently fresh installed Mint 12 / Cinnamon 1.4 (about a month ago). I normally fresh install every new Mint version within a week or two of release. Since I just installed Mint 12 a month ago, I don't really feel like another fresh install so soon. Is it safe to upgrade via "Apt" from Mint 12 / C...

Re: Expo doesn't show windows on secondary monitor

I'm surprised this hasn't been fixed yet...going on 2 months w/ no new Cinnamon updates. This issue definitely needs a fix. Also configurability of "snap"/"grid"/"edge tiling" (whatever it's officially called) to disable it via mouse location and use keyboard shortcuts instead. Those 2 things would ...

Re: Problem with Update Manager and Synaptic

I had the same problem and adding "/" to the end of "katya" solved my problem. Is this okay? Or should we be using "binary/" instead? I noticed my old install of Mint 10 has "binary/". What's the difference?

Memory leak, high Memory usage problems

I'm not sure what's going on but in Linux Mint 8 (32-bit) and 9 (64-bit) I have memory issues on my computer. The memory usage goes real high while using the system and never goes back down. I just rebooted 5 hours ago and right now I shut all open windows down and opened the System Monitor and it s...

Re: gnome-screensaver-dialog, whats my password biotch?

Haha, you're right. The message must have been left from the "Leave Message" button on the lock screen. Guess it was my wife. I'll have to ask her tomorrow. Thanks. I was a little freaked out for a sec that maybe someone had hacked into my network or something weird :)

gnome-screensaver-dialog, whats my password biotch?

I came back to my computer and this dialog box was popped up on the screen (see attachment). The title of the dialog window was "gnome-screensaver-dialog" and then it had the time and said "whats my password biotch?", with "OK" and "Cancel" buttons. I clicked "OK" and it just went away and nothing a...

Re: mintMenu on wrong monitor

I finally got the menu on the correct monitor (after corrupting my graphics so bad I had to reinstall Linux Mint 7 twice). Once I got back to having Xinerama enabled and having the mintMenu on the wrong monitor, I just had to right-click on the taskbar and go to properties. Then uncheck "Expand", wh...

Dual monitors works but visual effects doesn't

I finally got dual monitors working with my laptop and my 22" external monitor. However, once I have Xinerama enabled for proper dual monitor use, then I am no longer able to turn on visual effects. When I go to Preferences -> Appearance and enable "Visual Effects" it gives the error: "The composite...

[SOLVED] mintMenu on wrong monitor

Hey all, I've been using Linux for a few years now, so I'm not a newbie, but not expert either. When I was on Linux Mint 6, I had dual monitors mostly working on my Dell laptop + 22" LCD external monitor with Nvidia graphic card. I bought a new Dell Inspiron 1545 with an ATI graphics card and did a ...
