I made a live USB and fired it up on my newer HP laptop. It seems great from the little that I used it. Cinnamon is noticeably snappier than it was in 18.3. It also seems like the battery life has improved too since the last release.

That worked perfectly! I ran those commands and then checked the results of iwconfig. My connection speed went up to the full 300Mb/s that my router is capable of and after switching my router back to N-only mode it still stayed connected in Mint. Thanks!

On my desktop I went from Cinnamon to KDE. I liked having more customization options and so far KDE has been more stable on my machine. On my laptop, I switched from Lubuntu to Mint 18 XFCE because It's still light on resources but looks far better and has more customization options.
