LMDE3 praise, tips and tweaks dept.

LMDE3 has to be one of the top 3 distros i have ever driven! :D

Although it is already excellent, looking for tweak tips to enhance the experience.
Wondering what your favorite search tool is?
Recoll is on the top of my list.
Tried to install Cerebro but can't get it to go.

Re: LMDE 3

LMDE3 beats Win 10 hands down on my SSD.
By the time Win 10 is loaded and able open any app in decent time frame, i have time to write two pages in LibreOffice on LMDE3!

About 10 sec. for LMDE3 here.

btw, wish i could go and use Vista to see that unbelievable speed with my own eyes!

Re: What is protocol for Flatpak? [Solved]

You are right, Simplenote is not "flatpaked" yet.
Wish i could momentarily disable "find as you type" feature in Firefox.
Can do a search on that Flatpak site.
Think i had previously installed Simplenote via Snap.

Anyway, did install Hydrapaper via Flatpak and it works just fine. :)

Yay! :D

Snap maybe too?
Surprised there is no mention of either in Clem's monthly letter.

Re: Simplenote won't install

Just to confirm that it is an ongoing issue even with a clean install of latest Cinnamon 19 beta released from LinuxMint site (not Distrowatch anticipated one).

Re: Simplenote won't install

Addendum: maybe the fact that i'm using Distrowatch pre-release 19 beta had something to do with it.

Re: Simplenote won't install [Solved]

Maybe this could help. In the directory you have saved the .deb file, right-click and open a terminal. Run sudo dpkg -i Package-Name Replace Package-Name with the actual package's name. Cool! :D Never did that before! Learned something new today. Thank you! - - - - - For the record, did download tw...

Simplenote won't install

Even if dependencies are satisfied, package installer will not install Simplenote, it just disappears after clicking install.

Re: Does LMDE support Flatpak and Snap?

Thank you the tip Xenopeek.
If i need help with the command line, i'll make a post here.
Seems like Flatpak is the way to go and it can only be a huge plus for LMDE.

Just curious!

Haven't tried it in a while and if some faithful user can corroborate this or not, it would be appreciated.

Re: Firefox 57 - Quantum

Today is the dreaded change to FF 57. My first impressions: ...shocking. The UI is ugly, flat and window-ish. The speed improvement is noticeable, thought. Various extensions doesn't work anymore. I miss particularly downthemall! and hide caption titlebar plus. The last was very useful to reduce th...

How to make apps open on default monitor on XFCE?

External monitor is set as default but apps open by default on the laptop's.
Can't find settings to make apps load by default on the default, external monitor.

Had similar question for KDE (with good answer) but things are different with XFCE.

Re: Why are apps opening on secondary monitor ? (KDE)

You're a good teacher phd21! :)

Works just fine now.
Was using Vivaldi and right-click on titlebar didn't do the trick at first.
So, shrinked it and then the rest just went as smooth as can be!

Thank you!
