That is a matter of opinion. I know a lot of people that would disagree.

Actually, swamp coolers work well in the right climate.
Which is, what? My (bad) experience with swamp coolers was in a desert environment, low humidity and high heat (above 100° F).

Re: Cannot play videos in Firefox

How about a link or two to the places you get the "We're sorry. There's been an issue loading your video." ? That way others can test the same sites and see if the result is the same or different.

Re: Air Conditioner Vs Air Cooler

I spent the night once at a friend's house that had an air cooler (we call them swamp coolers here). During the heat of the day it worked like crap, and I froze at night. IMHO swamp coolers suck.

In which direction? I was 31 miles (as the crow flies) west of Pittsburgh.

Re: Cannot access terminal and the GUI is unresponsive.

I'm not an expert but messing around with Python can mess things up pretty bad, I think. Sounds like to me you need to do an OS reinstall.

BTW, why did you uninstall and then reinstall Python?

Yes it's true. You don't need AV on Linux. See the link below.

Re: Mate launcher panel

If I understand the problem correctly, then you have your window list too far to the left. Move it some to the right.

I run Pale Moon. It's not hard to get working fine, no "voodoo" necessary. Also no problem updating.

You need to change "you're" to "your" in the sentence:

Should you experience problems after the kernel update, you can boot using previous kernel via you're boot loader's boot menu

Re: Should I Change My Linux Kernel?

Some kernels are LTS, some are HWE (info in link). Kernel family 4.15 is LTS (supported till April 2023), so if it works for you, stick with that . . . just update to the latest 4.15 available to get security updates.

Re: Update question

Kernel updates are almost always security updates. So if you don't mind making your computer less secure, then don't update. (I'm saying that tongue-in-cheek; you should always update the kernel. If for some reason it doesn't work you can always go back to the previous one.)

Re: Linux Mint over Endless Os

I assume you mean as a dual-boot? Sure, you can. Others can be more specific about which desktop you should use (Cinnamon, Xfce or Mate) if you give more info about your rig by opening a terminal window and running this command inxi -Fxz (hopefully your other OS is setup for inxi commands). Copy-and...

Re: Tea or Coffee?

I think I wrote this in the other thread. The best coffee I ever had was at my friend's place in Ohio (I've moved far, far away quite a while ago). I guess you could say he was pretty extreme about his coffee. He buys his own beans, whole and raw, roasts them himself, and grinds just enough to last ...
