Re: [Solved] Cannot install MegaSync on Linux Mint 19.3 Xfce

That's good. But if you use your computer to connect to the internet, you are vulnerable since Mint 19 has received no security updates for the last 11 months.

Re: Cannot install MegaSync on Linux Mint 19.3 Xfce

Linux Mint 19 is EOL (dead). And since you couldn't download the needed dependency, I'm guessing the repos have been taken offline. Update to a currently supported version of Mint.

Re: How to hide files in the trash ?

If this is not yet solved, have you tried my earlier suggestion, just try deleting the trash folder on your external drive?

Re: Copying windows softwares to linux Mint

Windows .exe install files won't work on Linux. You need to find the Linux versions of whatever apps you want.

Linux ≠ Windows

Re: [SOLVED]: Strange security notifications

You don't need to reinstall the OS. The adware is in your profile. Just create a new profile and delete the old one. Problem solved (should be at least).

Re: Clamav package

You would need to ask this to the Ubuntu repo team, as this comes from them most likely. But this is the way most Linux distros work. They don't upgrade to the latest version of most apps, to keep the "known stability." Also, as already stated, unless you're running a server, you really do...

Mike-Linux-Mint wrote: Tue Apr 23, 2024 4:08 pm I also made visible the files as someone else suggested in this post and I have a file named Trash-1000 hosting the two files I'm trying to remove
I tried to remove them from there, but I can't.
It's not a trash file, it's a folder. Try to delete the whole .Trash-1000 folder.

They've been blocking the more popular Invidious instances also. Gooble seems to be going all out on blocking lately.

Re: Opera Linux is yesterday's tech?

An alternative is to use multiple browsers of course. But that's a resource waste unless it is absolutely necessary. If you have a fairly new computer, it should have plenty of resources "to waste." I've always had more than one browser installed for as long as I can remember. Why do you ...

It's in the browser/email client profile. There's a way to cleanse it, but I don't know it. I'd just created a fresh, new profile, and install uBlock Origin.

Where did the OP say he's using Trash as a backup? I don't see it. He was instructed to try to restore the files to see if that would work.

The "READ: How To Get Help!" page

I think the mention of "KDE" in the "READ: How To Get Help!" page ought to be deleted since Mint no longer offers the KDE desktop:

List what Display Environment you are using if relevant (Cinnamon, KDE, XFCE, MATE, etc).

Re: Linux Mint not deleting from Boot Options

If you're expanding the Windows partition, I would suggest to do that while booted into Windows (less chances of creating a problem). As for your other issue, I have no clue.
