Re: HP 2000 laptop

It seems to be working fine now. Not sure why. He took it home, it saw his wireless network, and it stayed attached...

Oh well...

Thanks

Re: HP 2000 laptop

Thanks Deep, I'll give that a whirl. Weird that it has to have a static IP in order to keep a connection though. That has me a bit confused, but I'll give it a try.

I'll post the results later this afternoon, when I get there.

HP 2000 laptop

I have a friend I'm trying to help out. I loaded [clean install] onto his laptop. The only way I can keep his wireless connection made is by putting in static IP, Mask, and Gateway.... Any ideas on what I need to look at? I figure the drivers are ok for it, since it see's wireless networks all aroun...

MAC Folder Structures

My boss's MAC is belly up. I can boot from a USB drive with Mint, and see the hard drive of the MAC, but no folder structures. I was going to attempt to recover files for him, like a did another person here at the plant that had a Windows Based Laptop that puked. Ideas? BTW, when I use GPARTED, it s...

Thought about it, but didn't.... I figured the hard drive could just be toast. I will inquire to her today, if that's something they want to try out.... since they have nothing to loose.

Mint saved the day

First off, I'm in NO WAY any type of expert in anything. Well, maybe photography... but that's another story. Anyhoooooo, one of my co-workers here, where I work as a part time IT person, told me her that husbands OLD laptop quit working. I asked her to bring it in. It was powering up, but the boot ...

Dual Boot - MAC

On my system at the studio, I have Mint and Win7 on a dual boot.

I mentioned mint to a friend of mine, but they run on a MAC.

Is a dual boot install doable on a MAC? Is there anything special about the install one should be watching for?

TIA

Re: Psycho Mouse Pointer

thanks guys. I'm actually running Peppermint right now for a change of pace. I was running mint for around 3 months, and thought I would play with Pepper. It did the same thing with Mint as well.

Actually? I don't use the touch pad. I use the mouse 100% of the time. I've just read on line that some folks have to Disable the touch pad.

Re: Sudo apt-get update(s)

I wish this box had enough system resources to run Mint or some other variant. That is why I recommended Peppermint 7 earlier... This is way off topic but I never tried that until this moment. Not a bad distro. Does a lot of stuff right ... so far anyway ... Still poking around. Got samba working i...

Re: Sudo apt-get update(s)

Appreciate it Austin. No worries. I just had this Dell box laying around and thought I might use it. I can load up Sever 2003 on it. That's what it was running prior to me wiping it off. Even in the terminal window, I can type XTERM, and it launches a 2nd window. No command seem to be recognized. Th...
