Please consider adding this East Asian language font set

If there is room in Celena and later editions, please consider adding this font set. It includes all of the commonly used characters in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, and will allow installation in those languages (since ubiquity has already been translated, all that are missing are the fonts). It w...

The nice thing about tools like beagle and tracker is that they're able to search text within files. So that if you're looking for all of the documents, html files, etc., where a certain word or name is mentioned, beagle or tracker can find them. They can also index your email, your bookmarks, or va...

There might be something of a problem with tracker in mint. I'm using mint xfce now, and whenever I reboot, tracker spends about two or three minutes indexing, which pushes the cpu speed up to 100% and makes everything extremely annoyingly slow. It should only have to do that once, as far as I know,...

Oops, I just saw Husse's post here: http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4161 If you view streaming real audio (.ram) you may experience that there is no sound. Open ~/.xine/catalog.cache, find the section [/usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.1.4/xineplug_decode_real_audio.so] Change decoder_priority=...

No sound in .rmvb video

I've got a video in .rmvb format that plays in totem, but without sound. Does anyone know how I could get it to work?

Thanks

The complete removal of Amarok, and replace it with Exaile. I think that Clem has already addressed this a couple of times and he's against it, because Amarok is a really excellent application that he and others use frequently, and exaile does not measure up yet. But I would also like to humbly sug...

I don't want to beat a dead horse, and if people don't want a feature like this then they don't want it, but... starkey: yes, it is easy to switch to .doc format in OOo IF you know that you even have to do that, AND you know how to do it! People not very good with computers might not be able to figu...

I'm not saying that .doc should be "the" standard--I'm just suggesting that there could be a notification box that could come up once people install giving an easy choice whether they'd like the standard to be .doc or .odt. I noticed that Corel Wordperfect had such a notification on the la...

I have been using Tracker instead of beagle. It's supposed to be less resource hungry. There's a news item on the front page that says that it's going to be the default search tool in ubuntu gutsy.

Easy option to save OOo docs as .doc by default?

The biggest concern that my friends and colleagues have about linux is whether they can read and create Word documents. While reading .doc files is no problem with OpenOffice, there is still one configuration change that is required to get OOo to save documents as .doc. Though it's easy to do, it's ...

I would also support skype being installed by default. Sabayon 3.4 has it, so I assume there are no legal issues involved.

Sabayon is not only the first distro that has been able to get compiz/beryl/fusion working with my crappy Radeon Xpress 200m integrated graphics card, but it got it working automatically with the live CD, and all I had to do was to click "XGL" in the boot up process! Hats off to them.

This happened to me, too, just a couple of days ago, just as I was trying to show open office in Cassandra 3.0 standard edition to a Chinese friend of mine. I also use scim for Chinese.

Thanks for all of the work from everyone who contributed!

I'd also like to call for more seeders for the torrent. Currently I'm registering 247 leechers and no seeders. The leechers I am seeing are all maxed out at 82.16%.

naming the automounted partitions

I have a minor suggestion that might help people using linux for the first time. One of the things that draws me to mint is the automounting of partitions, and especially the autoenabling of ntfs read/write support. When partitions are automounted onto the desktop however, they're given the default ...

is there a way to identify all amarok dependencies?

Hey All, I'm finding Mint to be an excellent choice for introducing new people to linux. In particular, the inclusion of the codecs, flash, java, and automatic ntfs mounting are all great for getting new people set up without a huge amount of extra downloading and configuring work on my part. Great ...
