first time installing LMDE

I try to do a clean install of LMDE-3 only, (a bear drive no other OS install) I try three times and fail. I can not get the partitions right. LMDE do not gave the option to use the hole drive and then make the partitions for me like LM 19. What am I doing wrong? I install LM 19 back on with no prob...

Are you trying to install an archive extractor and a torrent client? .tar.gz and Utorrent are 2 different things. .tar.gz is a file format and Utorrent is for downloading things through torrents. How do you install .tar.gz

How do you install .tar.gz. I look at and readied posts on this, but can not made head or tails about it. When running windows I use uTorrent, I found a Linux ver of it and like to install it.

it work, but with problems, the Sound and network icons are still black not white. The date menu background is white with white text. What next?


Is there a way to adjust the transparency on the cinnamon panel??????? Using Linux Mint theme.

How do I restart Mate without rebooting? You shouldn't need to restart the whole desktop, just the panels. You do that by entering this in the terminal: killall mate-panel This will shut down your mate panel and reload it will your updated settings. Thanks will gave this a try after work, post back...

Linux Mint Mate panel and text color

I can change the panel background color, but how do I change the text color? I like to have a darker panel with a lighter text so I can see it. Mate do not have any themes with a dark panel and light text like cinnamon has.

ok I turn the firewall back on and gave the "sudo ufw allow Samba" command.

and everything is running right.


I learn about share folders and firewall today. Thank you.
