That sounds like “xkill”. Normally is invoked from a terminal command of the same name.

Re: Folding@home-Team Linux Mint-76140

Hi Keith, I jumped back on for a run to see how it would go...been to warm to run within my comfort zone. Yes something is different. Seemed to be some talk about it ( I think) over at the FAH forum. When I started back up, my PPD on the FAH Control display was only showing me the base value of the ...

Re: Who has managed to keep the oldest computer still alive and kicking?

Got an approximately 2000-2001 era Mac PowerPC4 (blue & silver case) that I successfully got to dual boot the first version of OSX with Lubuntu 32 bit. The old OSX has a lot of nice (but old) Adobe programs on it that I wanted to hang on to for no good reason. The Lubuntu, boots, operates, but is ho...

Re: Missing Grub

Have you tried running sudo update-grub in terminal since reconnecting all drives, while in Mint? If not, try it, then in terminal, you can run cat /boot/grub/grub.cfg | grep Win to see if it picked up on the Windows OS before you try rebooting to see if it will go to grub. ( you could also run cat ...

Can't get to my Mint 19.1 right now, as my Frankenbox monitor and keyboard are swapped over to the ancient PPC4. If the file location stayed the same (from previous versions), try the following in the link below: 1. Can you bring up a terminal by using Ctl+Alt+t.... 2: Copy/paste this in to your ter...

Re: System box cooling fan.

Hi Alvin, From what I can see, the 660s only has a CPU-mounted heatsink/fan assembly. No case fans. If that is the way yours is set up, the CPU fan will not necessarily create any vacuum/output air through the case. The CPU-mounted heatsink/fan just pulls heat away from the CPU and distributes it th...

Re: Folding@home-Team Linux Mint-76140

Any of you GPU folders run any overclocking on your units? Ever since I reinstalled Mint a while back, and ended up with a newer Nvidia driver and Intel Microcode installed, I took a bit of a hit on PPD. The one thing I haven’t tried yet, is getting into BIOS and setting my CPU to run full bore. I h...

Re: the nest door alarm that we bought is 10 second deleyed in picture

Http://www.speedtest.net On a laptop or PC. Some phones and tablets will have a bit of a hit on them. Example: My PC’s all speedtest out at 71/71 up/down consistently My iPad typically tests around 56/46. My old Droid Raz’r tests around 27/13. Try to use a laptop or PC to test the speed in/out of th...

Re: the nest door alarm that we bought is 10 second deleyed in picture

There should be two modes of operation. 1. Access the camera remotely, to just look around the door area. This seems to be were more lag in the video was reported. 2. Have someone ring the doorbell, and have the other person answer it remotely on their device (phone, tablet, etc) to interact with th...

On project 14167 (0x21) right now, and its definitely higher than my norm—around 505~512K PPD. My average, since I did a reinstall and involuntarily got intel-microcode and a newer nvidia driver has been anywhere from 423-455 PPD.

...quick search shows the nest products have known lag issues. Product states it needs 2MB/s (16mb/s?) connection for proper streaming to your device. Owners/reviewers have stated that the lag seems more pronounced when passively streaming the video. Try making an active call/conversation with a hel...

It appears that for your MB Pro, needs some extra work beyond the standard install: Have you looked at these: https://gist.github.com/roadrunner2/1289542a748d9a104e7baec6a92f9cd7 https://github.com/Dunedan/mbp-2016-linux They have some info about extra things that may need to be done to get most of ...

Re: Screensaver - 3 hours?

suicide king, It will respect the time delay you set per smurphos' instructions. However, if its like Mint 18.x, if you click on a new time selection in the dropdown list in the screensaver preferences, it will wipe it out and you'll have to issue the terminal command again. It won't change a visibl...

Re: Why does Linux Mint work when others don't?

One example would be netbooks running emmc drives. Some different distributions crash during install. Gallium OS is a okay little OS that would work on that. I use it on a Chromebook. Has its own simple updater to run, uses Synaptic as well. Only issue I've had with it is I'm too lazy to install Mr...

Rich, Please do as Smurphos has suggested. 1) Run the command he posted to fix your potential files ownership issues. 2) Then, on your system, go to Menu --> Applets ; click the Download tab, type crypto in the search box and it will show up. Select to install it. (re: the pictures Smurphos posted.)...

Re: How to Load Applet on Linux 19.1

Not trying to make a big deal out of it. OP already had run the clone process and somehow the directory structure for that applet is all botched for it. Was trying to help sort that out so it would simply work, and not have dysfunctional remnants around the other folders.

Looking in File system, I find / root/usr/share/cinnamom/applets/ Has two Folders-... That location is where the applets that you download/activate through the Mint Applets manager are installed. What you are trying to do is a user install. Your /.local directory should have been in your /home/rich...
