Re: Panel (toolbar) Disappeared

Can you bring up a terminal by using Ctl+Alt+T

I don't have a copy of 18.2, but if structure for file locations is the same as for 18, running the below line in at the Terminal prompt will bring up your Panel Editor:

Code: Select all

/usr/share/cinnamon/cinnamon-settings/cinnamon-settings.py panel

Re: dual monitor overlapped, left display peeking through right display | mint 18.2 cinnamon64

If your current monitor configuration is still as reported in the code containing your "xrandr -q" results earlier ( eDP connected primary 1366x768+1366+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 345mm x 194mm ), try this in terminal: xrandr --output eDP --pos 1440x0 See if this ...

Re: dual monitor overlapped, left display peeking through right display | mint 18.2 cinnamon64

nacreous, My apologies. Should have said to look in: /etc/X11/xorg.conf . If not there, open a terminal session, and type locate -b xorg.conf to see where it resides, if present. If you find it, can you copy the contents and reply back and paste contents in a code box by clicking the "co...

Re: dual monitor overlapped, left display peeking through right display | mint 18.2 cinnamon64

Do you have a /etc/xorg.conf file you could post the contents of? In your xrandr output, this: eDP connected primary 1366x768+1366+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 345mm x 194mm shows that monitor is set right on the edge of the other monitor. In the current configuration you pos...

Re: My PC heats due to video

Hi Leloup, To me, it looks like your host CPU and memory are fairly busy in your latest screenshot. The host relationship between CPU % of use and CPU temperature seem to correlate with each other, other than it seems to continue a small climb up to that level (around 80C) before plateauing off. Is ...

Re: My PC heats due to video

Leloup, I see by your screen shot that you were running at the 640x360 as well. To manually change resolution while viewing a Youtube video, click the little gear icon and change the setting: Youtube_resolution.png Have you got a local video you could play back, testing on Windows and your VB as wel...

Re: My PC heats due to video

Hoser Rob, Here's what I get running the video: nerdstat.png Its playing back at the selected 1080p option. I changed it to different playback resolutions while playing, and the nerdstat changes to what is selected. I believe you can only watch a maximum quality that matches that of what was uploade...

Re: My PC heats due to video

Leloup, Could you go in to terminal, type inxi -Fxz and post results here for us to see? (this will give us type of CPU/GPU, amount of RAM, etc..) I ran your video in question for its duration, and got the results in the screenshot below: Video_playback_during_normal_operations.png (the CPU usage wa...

Re: Bios Malware in 17.3--NOT part of distro

Have I missed it, or, since you're suspect of bios corruption, why don't you pick one of the malfunctioning machines to test the theory, and go to the MoBo website on a good machine and get an updated bios, and flash it in to your test machine. I don't know about your whole stable of MoBo's, but I w...

Re: crash/reboot loop after changing from uefi to csm boot

Hi Schemel, The CD/USB is not offered as a boot option because Secure Boot is enabled, I would presume. Before you can boot from a CD/USB, you must do the following: 1. Upon powering on the laptop, press F10/11/12 {whichever one works on your machine} to enter boot options screen (your model may be ...

Re: Libreoffice spell check madness. HELP!

Hi Jedi. I'm afraid I don't exactly know where to point you for System language repairs. Understand you're using English UI, with Indonesian dictionary. The package at the Software Manager (named something slightly different in KDE?) It provides Indonesian localization of the Office package, and is ...

Jedi, Is this the dictionary you were adding? https://extensions.libreoffice.org/extensions/indonesian-dictionary-kamus-indonesia-by-benitius I am currently at version 5.1.6.2, and looks like this version of dictionary hasn't been updated since LibreOffice 4. There are a couple of older versions on ...

bosshogg, I just looked into this, and yes, my thesaurus did not work either. Checked at the libreoffice.org site, and found this new English dictionary. Download it, direct your extensions manager to it (easy instructions are on the page you can download it from), and your thesaurus should work. Do...

You'll likely need to post the exact model of your Samsung laptop. There are several hits on Google.com from generically searching "clearing cmos on a samsung laptop". A Youtube video for getting a Samsung laptop USB to be recognized in boot options: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHmZX-K...

greerd, Yes sir, you are correct. Earlier, at Extreme OC it showed my production as "0" for each time period since 9:00 pm last night. However, I see just in the last couple of hours it finally caught up. Appears to have lumped the missing data in on the 3:00 pm update. EXC_Stats.png

Re: Folding@home-Team Linux Mint-76140

Hmm.... looks like we got some disparity between Extreme OC and FAH. On Extreme OC, I'm missing 212K points and 5 work units. Looks like we all had a hole in time. I had noticed sometime during that period that I couldn't access the FAH stats. Sure hope it catches up to us somehow. Anyone else see t...

Re: Acer Aspire V 15 Defaults to GRUB Command Line on Boot

Kingsocarso, I just did an install of Mint 18 along side of Windows 10 on my daughters new laptop for school/college work. Its a new Acer Aspire E15 (E5-575G), with 256GB M.2 HD. We upgraded it to 16GB ram, and added a WD Black series 1TB HDD. I know you are installing a little newer version of Mint...

mellobob, I don't know which version of Mint you're running, but when I started using Mint 18, I too had the full volume blast at login. Quite hair-raising, and messy too, if you're holding a cup of coffee! You could try this.. I had searched around on the 'net and found this, and tailored the dB le...
