Re: Sound always max at boot after upgrade 18.2 to 18.3

Pete, Did you make the file back to original, as it was before any changes and try? Also double-check your start up programs section to ensure its pointing to the right file. (The hmlx in my example is the user folder in /home... ensure your *.sh file is in the home directory you’re logging in with....

Re: Cannot control speaker sound volume on ux550vd

When I started using Mint 18, I too had the full volume blast at login. You could try this.. it worked for another member here as well (I'm on Mint 18, they were on Mint 18.2, so hopefully will work in 18.3.) I had searched around on the 'net and found it, and tailored the dB levels to my liking. Cr...

Re: Brave Browser ?

rick gen, Out of curiosity of this thread, and your suggestion, I tried going to your linked website. Here's what I saw: Chromium Incognito: Web page loads, has some ads (one car ad is semi-local, as in 50 miles away based on IP I presume), clicking on a thread to read makes the page randomly unread...

Re: Testing sata hard drives connected via USB

Are the hard drives mounting after you've connected them? Clicking the "Menu" button on the bottom bar, then "Preferences" --> "Disks" will show all mounted drives. Once there, click on the small box button with the lines in it, and select "SMART Data & Self Te...

Re: PulseEffects

Apologies for missing the point that it wasn't PA-equalizer. Did you make/name a preset equalizer setting, and save it? Your link to home/.config/pulse doesn't show a saved preset. (not sure if pulseeffects works similar in that respect to PA-equalizer.) Does this program start up automatically at b...

Re: PulseEffects

What version of Mint are you running? I'm running 18, and Pulseaudio-equalizer version on the Software Manager is 2.7.0.2-5. look in your /home/ yourusername /.config/pulse folder for a file called "default.pa" It should have something like shown below at the end of the file, if your setti...

Re: Cinnamon app to erase a windows drive C? [SOLVED]

Dban would certainly work as well, if just looking to wipe the HD of Windows and it's structure. Download .iso and put on a properly formatted USB stick.

Re: Forum File Attachments

Thank you for the quick response.

I don't suppose there is a way to re-attach them from my end, without dragging them to the top of the forum page? If not, no worries, just curious.

Eric

When the problem is solved and attachments functionality can be enabled again, I'll note it here.... A little late to the game here, but was wondering what is the current status of the missing attachments? Was reviewing my old posts this morning, and noticed that it appears every attachment I've po...

Re: Panel (toolbar) Disappeared

Can you bring up a terminal by using Ctl+Alt+T

I don't have a copy of 18.2, but if structure for file locations is the same as for 18, running the below line in at the Terminal prompt will bring up your Panel Editor:

Code: Select all

Re: dual monitor overlapped, left display peeking through right display | mint 18.2 cinnamon64

If your current monitor configuration is still as reported in the code containing your "xrandr -q" results earlier ( eDP connected primary 1366x768+1366+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 345mm x 194mm ), try this in terminal: xrandr --output eDP --pos 1440x0 See if this ...

Re: dual monitor overlapped, left display peeking through right display | mint 18.2 cinnamon64

nacreous, My apologies. Should have said to look in: /etc/X11/xorg.conf . If not there, open a terminal session, and type locate -b xorg.conf to see where it resides, if present. If you find it, can you copy the contents and reply back and paste contents in a code box by clicking the "co...

Re: dual monitor overlapped, left display peeking through right display | mint 18.2 cinnamon64

Do you have a /etc/xorg.conf file you could post the contents of? In your xrandr output, this: eDP connected primary 1366x768+1366+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 345mm x 194mm shows that monitor is set right on the edge of the other monitor. In the current configuration you pos...

Re: My PC heats due to video

Hi Leloup, To me, it looks like your host CPU and memory are fairly busy in your latest screenshot. The host relationship between CPU % of use and CPU temperature seem to correlate with each other, other than it seems to continue a small climb up to that level (around 80C) before plateauing off. Is ...

Re: Bios Malware in 17.3--NOT part of distro

Have I missed it, or, since you're suspect of bios corruption, why don't you pick one of the malfunctioning machines to test the theory, and go to the MoBo website on a good machine and get an updated bios, and flash it in to your test machine. I don't know about your whole stable of MoBo's, but I w...
