Re: Dual boot problem Windows and Mint (two drives with EFI)

Different as intended it doesn't show /dev/nvme0n1p1 as boot device, but points towards a mount point /dev/sdb1. This means, I have two functional EVI folders on different drives. That doesn't look okay for me! That is what I would want to see, each OS with its own EFI partition booting from its ow...

Surely that is one area of the forum that could be easily improved, e.g. adding a dark theme to help the likes of Jeanie.

In mint, you can right click on your share in nemo (your file manager) and select properties:

Re: Few suggestions a week into linux

I have a few suggestions for improving ootb experience I don't use any of the features you suggest or any of the software you suggest, so no. As for the forum I'm with RIH, if there was one feature of the forum I would like to see improved, it is the search facilities. There is a treasure trove of ...

Re: my HP's samba cannot share its own Public drive

It would be nice if the installer would at least inform the user that the NetBIOS name has a 15 character limit One of the first things I learnt when trying to share for the first time (and it was from altair4). It is very easy to change your hostname: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?p=1...

Re: Linux Mint not deleting from Boot Options

You have now had it from three sources, yes you can use gparted to resize ntfs partitions, but you are better/safer using win's disk management utility.

Nearly, there is no need to download gparted or install it, there is a copy on your install stick, you just run it.

Yes you can use gparted, when messing around with win C: I prefer to use win's disk management utility.

Re: Linux Mint not deleting from Boot Options

Also, I went into the BIOS to remove the Linux Mint (shows up as ubuntu) boot option and selected delete boot option from the UEFI/BIOS but it still shows up. You need to delete the ubuntu folder in your EFI partition. Boot an install stick, run disks and mount your EFI partition, click on the hype...

Re: UEFI system new Mint install help needed

I am really looking for a way to avoid pulling the Windows system M2 Use gparted to disable the esp and boot flags on the EFI partition on your win drive. This stops the mint installer finding it and trying to put grub inside it. Obviously re-enable after install. gparted is the standard linux part...

Re: Do I need a separate scanner driver for Canon MF4890dw

VueScan did come up in my search I was a long time vuescan user, bought my new canon scanner - checked, yes it's supported. Then found out not in the version I had (2017) and I wasn't prepared to shell out for a new licence (£50 - almost as much as the scanner). Installed xsane, works but too compl...

But there's is no logging of my cron job in /var/log/syslog, that's the problem I still have. Does that matter if it works, I hadn't thought of checking syslog until this thread, I've been running this cronjob for a year. There are other ways of checking if your cronjob has run - send yourself a no...

Re: Can not switch to LMDE6 :(

Your posts suggest a problem between your hardware and a 6.x kernel. The edge edition is 6.5, LMDE6 is 6.1, not sure about popOS. The standard mint iso is 5.15. If you want to try LMDE try LMDE5.
