Error message when updating
Hi. Yesterday, when updating Mint on my laptop, my internet connection was interrupted. Today, when updating I got the following message: E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. I copied and pasted the "dpkg --configure -a" bit into a te...

Re: Stalls on start up.
I updated the kernal and anything else showing.....headers etc. and it made no difference to the 1 minute stall on start-up. It's not that it's slow, it stops working for about 1 minute.

Opening page to one user
Hello.
I have a PC at my aged mother's. She uses it to play Solitaire.
When the PC is started, it goes to users - me and her. How can I get it to go straight to her account? I'm not always around to do it for her.

Re: Stalls on start up.
Thanks for that advice.
Do you think I should try updating the kernal before doing a reinstall? Worth a shot? I have the updates set to install levels 1 - 3....not 4 or 5, which includes a kernal update.
I run exactly the same distro on another old laptop with no issues.

Stalls on start up.
Hello.
I installed Cinnamon (Mint) on a laptop which works fine apart from when starting up. It gets to the LM logo on the screen soon enough then hangs there for a about 1 minute before moving on to user log in. A bit annoying.
Any help to speed things up would be greatly appreciated.

Can malware jump from Windows to Linux in a dual boot set up?
1) As in the title....if 'something' nasty gets into the PC when using Windows on a dual boot PC, can it make its way over to the Linux side of the hard drive somehow? 2)When using Linux Mint, can 'something' nasty that one user lets in to the system, hop across all the users> I've got 4 users on on...
