Re: HELP-LMDE 3 New Installation Optimum Patirionng Setup?

I agree too. Let's hope that the OP fallendaemon finds useful info in this thread & hasn't been put off by the distractions! I'm sure that does happen sometimes.

I see new threads have been started, so I'll exit this one until the OP replies. :)

Re: Struggling with battery life

One major battery saving tip not mentioned in any of those links is to keep your laptop clean. An excellent point & indeed one which many forget about. Mine are cleaned out quite regularly but some laptops do tend to run hot regardless, like my Toshiba NB305, on which I'll need to experiment with t...

Did you try Mint's "USB Stick Formatter"? It should be in your menu.

Re: How to check network usage history

vnstat is the tool I see most often recommended. It's probably installed already ... I'm typing this on 17.3 and it's there. But you have to activate it apparently, the system doesn't seem to preserve network history through rebooots by default. 18.3 Cinnamon does not have it installed by default. ...

Re: 2 monitors, different resolutions

How did you know this? A hunch. I think the machine is getting the EDID from the other monitor when you swap them. Could you confirm whether it's always the same monitor with the issue, whichever port it's connected to, and which one? I know it's a pain doing the reboots for this, but that way I ca...

Re: HELP-LMDE 3 New Installation Optimum Patirionng Setup?

What I'd do in your case is have partitions like the following: 12.5GB swap To make sure there's enough in case you need to hibernate the system. 50GB / This should be sufficient for all the software you're likely to need; hopefully flatpaks etc. too. 25GB /home This would mainly be used to store yo...

Re: Linux Mint 12 Lisa 64 bit

If you're using rewriteable DVDs, make sure you fully erase them before writing the Mint ISO; otherwise you may get strange issues like this. I did when I started out with Mint, using a DVD+RW for the initial installation.

Thanks for taking the time to post your solution, and I apologize myself and on behalf of the members on here for not spotting your original post. I did post a suggestion in your other thread More ASUS E200HA Sound Issues; hadn't seen all the related posts here. Have you tried that, to see if the HDMI audio option appears?

Re: 2 monitors, different resolutions

It's great that they are now both working. It would be useful to see the xrandr output again in this state, to see if all the available resolutions are listed for both monitors & any differences; it'll also help provide a solution if the "fix" doesn't survive a reboot. :)

Re: I burned all my copies of windows

You're welcome. These two are brother and sister & are absolutely adorable, even if they are little buggers some of the time. They were always together right from the start which is why they both came to live with me together (I'd said I wanted two, to keep each other company while I was out)....

Re: Struggling with battery life

I specifically avoid using it on my laptops because, by default, Mint severely shortens battery life. When I use Manjaro, my laptop battery will run around 8 hours. If I put Mint on that same machine, that is shortened to under 5 hours. This is an old thread but you make an interesting point. I hav...

First post here: Re: Install Mint with 32bit UEFI I've been researching this for the past week or so (am new to Linux) having been trying to repair a Linx 7 tablet and have found that a GPT-formatted USB with a 64-bit Mint 17.3 distro will boot (via GRUB) on UEFI once you've copied "bootia32.efi" to...

Re: Anyone tried installing mint on Beelink S2 Intel Gemini Lake N4100 Mini PC

That sounds odd to me, too. I'd contact them first & ask them questions like: Can the internal storage be upgraded? 64GB may be sufficient for the root, swap & maybe some storage for /home, at least for now. However, what happens if it fails? Will it run OK from the HDD/SSD? Can the RAM be upgraded?...

Re: More ASUS E200HA Sound Issues

One thing you could try is to close any open audio settings windows or dialogs, then, with the TV connected, open a Terminal & issue the command pulseaudio -k - then, after a short pause, check your audio settings again to see if the HDMI audio options have appeared.

takes longer to find out what the acronym means. Plus, in world-wide forums such as this, it's confusing. Re: 2 monitors, different resolutions

Your symptom matches a not-fully wired VGA cable disallowing EDID transportation from the monitor It indeed does. Or a dodgy connection (have experienced colour dropout on one or more channel(s) due to this; required some plug wiggling & re-inserting to fix it), if the same cable worked previously.

There are a few variants of this card, with a few different brands, it seems. Could you let us know exactly which one you have? Only resolution specs I've found so far (which might not be the same as your card) are as follows: Max Resolution Details DVI: 2560 x 1600 / VGA: 2048 x 1536 Could you plea...

In Mint 19, did you try apt policy wine? This will show if it's actually installed (and which version) along with available candidate(s). Although it seems it was, anyway.
