"What do you want to do today?" .. in the second image on their screenshots page. The one with the Teletubbies "Sun" on steroids .. I'm sure I remember that "tag" line from somewhere .. (cough .. Redmond) From the images the desktop and panel don't look too bad ....

Re: Send popup message from Mac to Linux PC?
The trick when executing over ssh is to use the correct values for setting DISPLAY or DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS environment variables. A very warm welcome to the Forum and thanks very much for posting this. :D Seems I missed the DISPLAY parameter .. this sort of thing is seemingly not easy to find (...

Compiz Cube ?? cube/sphere thing I'd call that an ellipsoid. Might be mistaken though .. looks great regardless. 8) It reminds me of the demo program which came with one of my better graphics cards although that was a regular sphere which you could rotate at will, with an effect reminiscent of the ...

Re: All types of inxi
A single partition layout may be better for one of those eMMC jokes. This would indeed have been better. The installation was really just an experiment to see if I could get a UEFI installation to work as I'd had no previous successful experience with that (had no other UEFI machines at the time ex...

Re: App to make DVD movies
Later versions of Kdenlive certainly have great functionality in this regard (you can add menus, titles, transition effects and modify video and audio; chop, add and change soundtracks etc.) albeit a bit of a complex interface (which took some getting used to even for some of us used to older versio...

Re: If Microsoft had adopted Unix would they rule the world?
Hmmm .. looks like MS did consider a UNIX-like OS according to this Youtuber:
XEDOS - Microsoft's forgotten Linux-like OS from 1981 revealed!
I believe there would always have been a FOSS movement whatever happened, though.

At least mine is 18. 3 ! :P That will be too, once I resize the / to claim unused space in /home which I made needlessly large, considering its usage. It is severely storage-starved having one of those 32GB eMMC jokes storage devices and no SATA header fitted. Only ½GB free on /  I c...

The second, and most important difference, is that the Mexican bottlers Coke mix uses REAL sugar, just like the original recipe, The American version has been using "high fructose corn syrup" in place of sugar, largly because its cheaper, for many years now. There's a lot of places which ...

Re: Send popup message from Mac to Linux PC?
OK, this is what I've been trying to do. A standard notify-send works when sent from a Terminal in the same graphical session but there must be some way of sending it to a user on e.g. PTS/1 on a remote machine? For some reason it doesn't work and often gets stuck in the attempt. Hopefully someone h...

Re: Send popup message from Mac to Linux PC?
Do you mean a notification? This is something I haven't had any luck with either. It would be handy to send one to a remote machine, for example, when one is doing maintenance on to let the user know, for example, that a reboot will be scheduled following updates and to save their stuff or postpone ...

Re: Tea or Coffee?
I don’t know, but my wife loves it almost like a syrup. Reminds me of how (many) Italians like their coffee. The local bar proprietors were a bit surprised when I asked for the coffee without sugar .. a small cup of very strong and exquisitely delicious beverage! Quizzical looks changed to more sur...

I see this one pop up, and most of all, it indicates the problem with stringing together random arguments without even checking if they are required, that is, read the help/man before suggesting redundant arguments like this. Exactly, it's why I posted it. It's being recommended on another Forum. :...

You have these in England??? We have something similar but the ones I've seen aren't as deep as those, probably more concentrated. My aunt has those I think .. if I get to see her this Christmas I'll grab a few pictures & post them here. :) Sweet or Unsweet? I've never tried iced tea but I'd ha...

How about this one?
More self-explanatory IMHO.
Should work on fairly recent inxi versions, at least from inxi: 3.0.24.
Code: Select all

Re: Missing 500 Gigs
What do you think? 64-Bit programs tend to use a bit more RAM as far as I'm aware but can't say I noticed any performance hit when I switched from a 32-bit installation to the 64-bit version of the same Mint flavour. If anything, performance was better and that was with only 3GB of RAM on the old D...
