Re: Birthday gift for me [System 76 Darter Pro]

Do they also have replacements for users with loose screws? I wish. I would be first in line to get replacements for my loose screws! I (technically, in an extreme case) actually could have loose screws in my head .. long story but I do have a Titanium plate in there and I saw the two...

Re: Birthday gift for me [System 76 Darter Pro]

Screw fell out of the back of the laptop and got lost (they are tiny). I tend to bag-up the screws from old scraptops as they can come in handy in cases like this. Too easy to lose! Luckily the ones in my Thinkpad turned out to be captive (mostly). I was using my Acer for quite a while with no case...

Glad you sorted it, sorry I had to disappear offline for a while, a bit too distracted at the last 2 venues; saw your last reply early this morning. :D

Re: I need CHOWN help

Thanks for providing those. Seems from your outputs that sdb (your 4TB) is not mounted at this time. Could you provide that last one again after accessing the drive? I'm assuming it's formatted and partitioned! sudo parted -l should reveal the condition it's in now. Will be offline for a short while.

Re: I need CHOWN help

That's great so far but could you do the same for the other two, and also mount | column -t cheers. Need to know exactly how the system sees the disk and its mount point. These between them should provide ample data for me or someone else if I happen to be offline for a short while! :) It's normal f...

Re: I need CHOWN help

Are these disks mounting automatically on startup, or do you get them to mount by opening them in your file manager? Terminal command cat /etc/fstab will be useful, as well as blkid . Also inxi -Fpxxxz as this gives useful system info. I'll likely think of others in due course. Please use the </> bu...

Re: Long pending Thank You to Linux Mint

Linux Mint saved the day when my last Windows 7 OS finally borked itself beyond "economical" repair (with respect to the time and effort involved). So I abandoned it in favour of Mint. Very stable, responsive and a pleasure to use. I will always be grateful for that and will probably always have Min...

Re: Firefox loses 250 employees - will development quality go down?

They had a good one recently. I sometimes want to change the css of a specific web page to make it more readable in some way and I do that by creating css rules in ~/.mozilla/firefox/profile_name/chrome. It works great normally, but after a recent Firefox update it just stopped working altogether. ...

I see that after applying it to the laptop display, I still have the "spray bottle with GNU+Linux .. wipes Windows in seconds!" one on the other monitor. :D

Re: Disable the touchpad

He didn't mention that, unless the post was edited before I saw it .. what I do do though, is disable tapping. I have a clickable touchpad on this machine & it's the first machine I've had with a useable one.

.mozilla went down the toilet when it turned quantum. i forget which version that starts with i believe 70? Agreed. Think it was V57 .. I have it as a backup browser but hardly use it myself. Hate the stupid UI changes .. menu bar hidden by default with no obvious (to most) way of bringing it back ...

Re: Disable the touchpad

Another option might be to set "Disable the touchpad when a mouse is plugged in". Plus some laptops have a key combination for this, usually Fn plus one of the function keys.

Further to that, if you are using a mouse, maybe add a trackpad indicator to your panel?

Re: Multiple Windows internal hard drives.

Maybe the disk is in a "locked" state due to Windows' "fast boot"? I'll have to look for the destructions again as to how to remove the hiberfile.sys or whatever it is.

Should still mount as read-only though?

sudo because inxi needs root permission to access much of the memory information Indeed, due to dmidecode. 2.2GB seems a lot though for graphics memory alone. I think I have ½GB allovated for graphics. Fine for 3 monitors and doing video editing etc.. Are you using high definition monitors? .. i.e....

Re: Manjaro Forums read-only at present .. is it just me?

sorry guys, I was posting relating to That seems to be an unrelated issue to me but absolutely no need to apologize. I didn't spot the connection as it's worded so differently to what I was initially looking for, which seems to be a historic issue with KDE anyway on these Lenovos. In this case, thi...
