Re: How do you increase text size on GRUB screen?
How can I do the opposite? I recently installed "sudo apt-get grub2-theme-mint-2k" but now I find the font is too big and I would like to go back to the default font. How can I do that? Thanks. I'm using Cinnamon Mint 20.2... I'd like to know that too, if anyone has an answer? Thanks

Thanks Joe. Think you are right re ARM. However, the link to using hardware keys to do a master reset looks promising - I'll get her to give that a try. Many thanks for the steer.

Samsung Galaxy A6 Tablet - Can Mint be loaded? (SOLVED)
Quick question to someone more experienced than me! A friend has a Samsung Galaxy A6 Tablet. It originally belonged to her daughter who, unfortunately, died quite suddenly recently. She is unable to access the A6 as it stands as she doesn't have her daughter's password and no one seems able to unloc...

Re: Install on a spare HDD ?
I dual boot Windows 10 and 17.3 Rosa Cinnamon with both operating systems on separate HDD's - Windows 10 on HDD C: and 17.3 on HDD T: I installed 17.3 separately after adding an additional HDD to my computer. I use Neosmart Technologies' EasyBCD (free) to provide the dual boot option. Works perfectl...

Re: Windows wants to scan and fix my external hard drive that I mostly use with my Linux machine.
Are you absolutely sure that it's Windows that wants to "scan and fix" your external hard drive? Those words seem to appear often as advertisements on various webpages and it is not always apparent that they are not actually Microsoft Windows, but a comercial company trying to get you to i...

Re: Partition problem
Just for info; I'm pretty sure that the 450 MBs partition you are referring to is the 'Windows Recovery Partition' created by Windows as part of the Windows 10 upgrade process (I'm assuming here that you've let Windows upgrade your operation system to W10 from either W8, W8.1 or W7. If you haven't, ...

Re: Default Password What is it?
Thanks all. I've done as suggested by Cosmo - created the 'default keyring password' using the same one as my system password. It was accepted and I've not noticed anything untowards since. And I haven't been asked for any password to be entered since then!

Re: Weird Problem w SM
I've had exactly the same problem with SM for several days now, ever since installing 18.1 Xfce Beta version - reported it on the Beta Blog, where I got no response - so posted it under 'Releases & Announcements' '18.1 Xfce Beta' in the hope that someone would come up with a suggestion! Nothing....

I have identical problem to TomP, only with 18.1 Xfce BETA version - See my post under Releases Announcements , Topic - Linux Mint 18.1 Serena Xfce - BETA release , for a fuller explanation of my problem - The Firewall option under Xfce's BETA main menu also gives me the same problem! Wonder why thi...

Re: Dirty cow Exploit patches
"Which are the Mint versions not requiring a patch" - Very good question, to which it would be nice if we could get a, once and for all, definitive answer!! I've just moved from 3.19.0.32 to 4.4.0.45 (3.13.0.100 wouldn't work for me) on the basis that the 4.4 kernel is okay. Unfortunately,...

Re: Insane slowness shutdown and startup After kernel patch upgrade
For what it's worth: I was using kernel 3.19.0.32, blissfully unaware that it was no longer supported and that it therefore didn't (and wouldn't get) have the Dirty Cow bug fix. I decided to do what most other people were suggesting and installed 3.13.0.100 - Unfortunately, using 3.13.0.100 I couldn...

Re: WIFI problems - kernel 3.13.0-100
JeremyB Using Update Manager I tried installing 3.13.0-98 (the most up to date on offer in UM) - Didn't allow me access to WIFI. Removed 3.13.0 and installed 4.4.0-45 - Success! Immediate connection to my WIFI! It would seem, therefore, that 3.13.0 isn't compatible for me. I've at least learned not ...
