Re: How to set imap.

Sadly, there are not that many forums listed there either. I once tried the stackexchange and frankly, that was a bust..

But thanks. Hey, maybe someone will know it. It is not the most urgent of questions and I will keep rechecking...

How to set imap.

Hi all, I am using the Awesome WM and it is rather lovely. I have set it up rather nicely (at least I am happy with it) but I got utterly stuck on setting up the mail notification. How do I do it? I have downloaded my defaults from https://github.com/lcpz/awesome-copycats and I am trying to get it t...

AwesomeWM question. snapping?

Hi all, I understand it has nothing to with Mint, but I thought, maybe it is still a reasonable place to ask... Aaaaanyway, I am trying to get a Cinnamon like snappingin AwesomeWM going, but I am unable to do it. I want to use something like Super+left arrow to snap a window to the left half of the ...

Re: How to make a mouse click excecute a script?

I am using it to run xmenu. Though to be perfectly honest, I am not sure how my use of this will affect yours ? :). By setting the "sleep 2" to be something smaller, like "sleep 0.15", I am getting a nice and smooth experience. And no, it does not take up any noticeable CPU power...

Re: How to make a mouse click excecute a script?

First of all, massive thanks. I know that must have taken work. Secondly, it does work rather nicely, only 2 problems that I have: 1. you inputed "button[2]=down". I would rather have "button[1]=down" and "button[3]=down". SInce the middle button does have other functio...

How to make a mouse click excecute a script?

I want something "simple", and the simpler the solution, the happier a camper I will be :). Whenever (and where ever) I press both left and right mouse button at once, I want a script to run. That is it. This is quite easy with the keyboard, but sadly, the mouse is a no-no. How can I achie...

[SOLVED] How to force a program to quit in n seconds? (with keyboard shortcut)

Hi all, I want to make a keyboard shortcut that displays the time on the screen and than disappears. I nearly even succeeded. However, the last step, to bind it to a keyboard shortcut, is bugging me... I get the error " failed to execute child process ..." . How can I fix it? (Btw. xdg-ope...

Re: How to set a symbol (such as ©) to a key combination (such as ctrl+alt+c)?

Thanks all. I will try the Autokey software. Will report back when I have tried it.

I am using cinnamon, 20.something. Basically, the newest one.

Cheers.

Re: How to set a symbol (such as ©) to a key combination (such as ctrl+alt+c)?

© was just an example. I mean, how can I take an ascii symbol and bind it to a shortcut. I know the keyboard shortcut thingie, but I do not know what command to use there, to rebind a keycombo.

For example, if I want ctrl+a to be x, what should I write?

Cheers.

How to set a symbol (such as ©) to a key combination (such as ctrl+alt+c)?

Hi all, in Windows, I used to use a program called "Auto-hotkey" to do this. Ever since I moved to Linux, I am missing this feature. Is there any way (the easier the better for me, but I am also wiling to install stuff etc) to do something like like that? I am not too picky ow to do it, no...

[SOLVED] How to remove liquorix kernel?

Hi all, I've install the liquorix kernel, but it gives me problems. So, I've used advanced boot options and selected the generic 5.4 kernel. The plan was to then delete all other kernels. However, there does not seem to be any other kernels. Not under "update manager" --- "linux kerne...

Re: New User : Multiple problems.

Cheers. I suppose I will do that. I increased the swappiness from 10 to 25. Maybe I have too little Ram (and only 1 stick.. I will buy the 2nd in a few weeks/months.). The thing is, right after startup, the PC runs nice and smooth. It slows down in a 30 min to 1 hour though. Oh well. I will test it ...

Re: New User : Multiple problems.

Thank again. I have lm-sensors install, it says "lm-sensors is already the newest version (1:3.6.0-2ubuntu1).". As for the kernels, I get the following image https://i.imgur.com/yTE1E7q.png So is it already installed? Should I also install the -47 ? Cheers. Something feels sluggish.. to th...

Re: New User : Multiple problems.

Thank you very much for the helpful post. Unfortunately, I did delete the old kernel, when I made a system clean... How do I reinstall it? Also, how do I check if lm_sensors is installed? I tried sudo apt-get install lm_sensors but that does not work. I get E: Unable to locate package lm_sensors. Ch...

Re: New User : Multiple problems.

I do not remember honestly, I did it all pretty much as soon as I installed Mint. But somehow I doubt it a little, as I do not remember there being a noticable drop in performance etc when I installed it. Is there any way I can determine if it is the kernel and reset it, without uninstalling the who...
