Re: How well Tessa run on old Inspiron B130?

I have several single core Pentium M processors running off both Cinnamon and XFC. They run fine with the 2 GB ddr2 Ram. Depending on which one (speed) they even run well with video. :D

Re: Linux Mint and disk space

An example of a small netbook is this one. The tiny SSD is too small to install XFCE in it at 7.7 GB. It helps to use the 2 GB of ram with the 32 bit Distro of Peppermnt 9. It is similar to XFCE but not as smooth. Most accessories it likes to install on the cloud. tomk9@tomk9-Inspiron-910 ~ $ inxi -...

Re: hello from Boston, Ma

I have done over 200 installations of Linux mint since I retired from my day job using MS and CAD. Never going back. Everything I tried to run, on MS, runs even better (with some name changes) on LM Cinnamon or XFCE. With no antivirus software or spyware. And no annual fees.

Re: antivirus

In every case I used commercial antiviral software, I was using Microsoft Windows. I was also paying for Norton, Kaspersky, plus 2 other packages. In the last case every keystroke whether I was doing email, CAD, or writing technical manuals my computer was being monitored 24/7 In the Bay area, South...

I preferred Brasero but it was not in my 19.1 Cinnamon distro or the SW manager.

Re: Who did come up with this anti-human anti-linux "security measure" for password requirement in this board?

One suggestion of generating a password is to type it into a text file, taking into account the rules. Save it ! Then do the preliminary info fill in, Then copy and paste the password into the password and confirmation boxes. They should match. :D An alternative would be to leave the entries visible...

Re: Driver needed for Canon Lide 120 Scanner

Strange I do not have any problem with my Lide 20 or Lide 210 with simple scan on wither 18.3 or 19.1 Cinnamon.

Re: Need a helping Hand - Webcam not recognised

Curiosity! Is VLC installed and enabled. on some installs I have found it was missing. If so, Cheese sometimes does not work. Make sure by going to the "Software manager" and making sure they are installed.

Re: I LOVE LINUX!

Both of the Lenovos will run much better if you just save on a flash drive the Thunderbird address book and do a dedicated install in the Lenovo of anew preferred OS, XFCE, MATE, Or Cinnamon. This will take care of any compatibility issues from moving the HDD from the ACER. Just go to the main Linux...

Re: VOTE ! Mint-Y-LOGO... A New Version Of The Linux Mint Logo !

I like JerryF's version. It prints up nicely with my Xerox color laser printer. just the right size to cover the Dell and Apple logos, :P
It compliments the outrageous "Austin Texas" logos he posted a couple of years ago.

Re: mate tripple monitor issue - maximising windows streches it accorss all 3 of them

Apparently you are running different apps on each screen. Try using the intermediate screen button on each app screen instead of full screen. of course your bottom control panel will still be stretched across the 3 screens

Re: grabbing edge of window is too sensitive

I found I need to click the diminished size button to do. The windows are full screen from install and need a couple of rounds to set up the intermediate or shrunk sized windows.

It would have had to be an unattended update while it was at the Portland, Oregon website. He said it was still there when he went online to check his email a few minutes before after his updates the day before. I will be doing a complete reinstall on Monday. He is no longer receiving his email. The...
