how do i login to root?

i tried doing this at the command ling
su
then i typed my password
but it said
su: Authentication failure
Sorry.
why is this?
does ubuntu have a default password?
is this not the password i made in the beginning?

the lcd monitor is not recognized correctly. it's supposed the say kds 17", but it says mx75 in the config file. does this make a differnece? and how do i change it?

depending on the seed to leech ratio of the file your downloading makes the difference between a fast or slow download.
try to find files that have a high seed count and a low leech count.

how do i know if its installed correctly?
my graphics card is a radeon xpress 200 integrated w/ mobo.
