Re: date format in Thunderbird

Try this add-on: Enhanced Date Formatter. You will be able to set whatever format you want, no matter what your locale is.

I cannibalized a script I had done for other purposes that makes a nice striped timezone list. Here is my variant:
Hey, very nice! Maybe little too much info for my taste, but looks good! Hat down for that nicely drawn clock (if SVGFILE is missing). :)

And welcome to the forum!

Re: World clock applet?

edit: only one thing i noticed : while your first script runs flawlessly, the final version shows wrong times. Hey, nice catch! I didn't notice that. Thanks! OK, here is "second final" version. ;) #!/bin/bash # # purpose: show date/time in other timezones, as tooltip, on xfce panel # usage : call f...

Re: World clock applet?

Made few more changes in script, to include cities represented by symlinks (London), to replace underscore in city name (New York), and to remove continent/timezone. Now it looks like this: wclock.jpg Final version of the script: #!/bin/bash elements=$@ zoneinfo=/usr/share/zoneinfo/right format='%a ...

Forgot to say: GenMon supports Pango Markup Language, so you can further beautify your tooltip:

Re: Virtual Box shared folders

Question for OP: Did you add yourself to vboxusers group? If not, that's probably the reason why shares doesn't work. To do so (instructions applicable to Xfce DE, not sure about others): open Users Settings > Manage Groups > select 'vboxusers' group > Properties > tick yourself as a member > OK > r...

Re: World clock applet?

How about something like this? wclock.jpg You asked for world clock in a tooltip, right? :) If this is (close to) what you want, here is how to do it: First, you need a script: #!/bin/bash elements=$@ zoneinfo=/usr/share/zoneinfo/right format='%a %m.%d %H:%M' > ~/.wclock for search in ${elements[@]}...

Re: where does linux mint 19.1 xfce save desktop icon order

It happens occasionally on every Xfce system I installed. It's a known Xfce problem. I have a script (which I execute with keyboard shortcuts) that fixes icons when it happens. Maybe you will find it useful: #!/bin/bash # # purpose : back up & restore desktop icons positions, in case xfdesktop mess ...

Re: Firefox scrollbar colour

@smurphos

That tip just made my day. 8)

The same question (FF scrollbar colour) bugged me for a long time, but I never made an effort to ask, dunno why. But now I'm enjoying my FF which finally agrees with my favourite theme (Mint-Y-Dark...)

Thank you!

Re: why use Thunderbird at all?

I take my laptop with me and may not always have internet when I'm out and about. I want my email on my own machine, not in the cloud (someone else's machine). That way, I can always see and search it. +1 Also, it's much easier (IMHO) to manage multiple mail accounts if you have a specialized app. ...

Re: How to hide Firefox 57 titlebar?

No-one has mentioned regular way to do it. Firefox can do it on it's own, no scripts needed, no extensions needed... Click Customize... in the main menu, and in the lower left corner you'll find checkbox for turning off title-bar. You will still have your min/max/close buttons (moved automatically d...

Re: Xreader not rendering some EPUBs

Have you tried FBReader for your .EPUB files? Good program! I used to use it for reading. But now I do most of my reading on my phone (where I have FBReader, as a second choice app). FBReader is fairly outdated now. I didn't try it on LM now, because it pulls very many qt4 dependencies, and I would...

Re: Xreader not rendering some EPUBs

EDIT: Actually, I don't think a permissions issue would let you see the ToC either, so I doubt that's going to help. It didn't help. But thanks for the try. By the way, I tried also to install Atril (which is basically the same as Xreader, but has it's own libraries) and it works exactly the same w...

Xreader not rendering some EPUBs

...but it's (probably) NOT Xreader's fault. I have lots of EPUB books. Usually I read them on my phone (that's why I can't say when THIS happened) but sometimes it's good to be able to open a book on a big screen, and Xreader usually does that job nicely. But, somewhere after upgrading to LM 19.1 I ...

Re: Large Mouse Cursors isn't persistant

Sorry for being late – I don't have time to come here every day. I hope you didn't gave up. But I understand you, I have my own "visual issues" and I'm very happy we have "show mouse location" feature now. What you have described is a long-time-known Xfce behaviour. As a workaround, you can do this:...

Re: [Solved] Few questions regarding Linuxmint 19 Xfce

OP already marked this as "solved" but anyway... :) 4. In the panel I have the Clock app. Is there anyway to edit the font and color of the text? Not important but would be cool. If you change clock format to "custom" you will be able to, well, customize it, to some extent. The plugin supports marku...

Re: Misecu IP camera

The one I got was 192.168.178.200 but if I try that one he can not load it. How do you know that this is correct address? Only because you were told so, or have you found it somehow? First, if it's really set on that address, then you probably shouldn't be able to see it, until you change your PC's...
