Re: Return terminal to Defaults

I *finally* did find the settings to restore the terminal back to 'normal'. Thank you all for your suggestions. :)

Re: Return terminal to Defaults

Try a right click on the terminal window to generate a dropdown menu and place a tick into the box next to "Show Menubar". The other changes you want to make can be done via Preferences in the dropdown menu. I've already tried the 'easy' solution. This is a big reason why I'm posting here. The opti...

Yes! I did it!

I finally bit the bullet and installed Linux Mint Mate 18.3 on my ancient and decrepit computer.
And you know what?
IT WORKS GREAT!
Thanks to all of you that help to make a truly great product!
Cinnamon always seemed kind of slow, but with Mate, everything is just peachy!

Return terminal to Defaults [SOLVED]

A couple or three months ago (or maybe six or more) I installed Linux Mint 18.3 Xfce on a HP 2000 laptop. I also wanted to put a desktop clock on it at the time, and tty-clock seemed to fill the bill. However, it's a pain to configure it after every reboot, so I installed dclock instead. So why am I...

Just a shot in the dark here, but could you reverse the order of the files maybe?

Re: Upgrade Time

Thanks Joe, although your idea *sounds* like a good idea on the surface, I'm afraid I could possibly mess something up doing something that seems elaborate to me. This close to the deadline to upgrade I just get more and more nervous that I'll screw up something and then I won't have any computer. I...

Upgrade Time

Gee, time flies when you're having fun. Seems like only yesterday I installed Linux Mint 17.3 onto my computer and now it's already 2019! Argh! I have to upgrade again?!?! I'm not entirely surprised, as I've been preparing for this ever since I first installed Linux Mint Cinnamon 17.3, getting backu...

Re: Rocketboard Model 100 Keyboard

Wow! I never expected a post to this!
Anyway, all you have to do to set up keys (and you're using Linux Mint Cinnamon) is to go into Keyboard/Shortcuts and define keys as I did in the link photo. I couldn't assign any others unfortunately, but the ones I have mostly work fine.

Re: The curious case of the haunted second monitor

I'd say to check the box that says, "Mirror Displays" since it doesn't seem to be greyed out.I had to fiddle with the desktop to get it to work, even going so far as to use the Sony monitor as primary display.

Re: The curious case of the haunted second monitor

I'm sure that there are people here that can help with this. However, in order to do just that we need a tad bit more information. Could you please type into a terminal the command, "inxi -Fxz" without the quotations. copy it from the terminal and paste the results which would be your system special...

Re: Firejail beta-testers wanted!

For xed on LM 18.3, adding these lines shown in green to /etc/firejail/xed.profile works: https://github.com/netblue30/firejail/commit/b4e484e50f22894683c6974bc01e171dd2b19e3d Will this work on Mint Cinnamon 17.3? Re: Firejail beta-testers wanted!

So this text opening issue isn't related to my problem opening a .txt file on my desktop? I made a .txt file with random letters in it, and saved it to my desktop. I then tried to open it with gedit. As I'd grown accustumed to it doing, all my cursor did was to do a spinney for a little while, and t...

I'll try and get a firejail tor test for you to run within the next 8 hours or so, Amii, if you're willing.

Re: Firejail beta-testers wanted!

Amii_Leigh, do you still have tor in /usr/bin/tor-browser-en as mentioned in https://github.com/netblue30/firejail/issues/1930 ? If not, can you post the path to tor on your system? This is the command line which contains the path to my installation of Tor Browser: sh -c '/home/amii/.tor-browser-en...

Amii_Leigh, how do you normally start tor with firejail?
I usually just do:

Code: Select all

firejail /usr/bin/tor-browser-en.sh
But this version of firejail won't even show me the terminal. Since I have the system sound for closing windows, it goes 'pop!' and I don't see anything.

Re: Firejail beta-testers wanted!

The launch code for Tor won't work like that. $ firejail --ignore=tracelog sh -c '"/home/amii/.tor-browser-en/INSTALL/Browser/start-tor-browser" --detach || ([ ! -x "/home/amii/.tor-browser-en/INSTALL/Browser/start-tor-browser" ] && "$(dirname "$*")"/Browser/start-tor-browser --detach)' dummy %k Rea...
