Re: [Bug] The new update kernel is not installed.

... and/or, as might more quickly lead this thread to some sort of conclusion, why do you have a separate /boot partition in the first place? That is not normal and not needed unless in pretty specific circumstances. Did you confuse "a boot partition" with an EFI System Partition (which no...

Re: Setting Plex permissions in Mint XFCE

No experience with Plex as such but certainly in any case the chown will be ineffective on NTFS since that filesystem doesn't know about the concept of UNIX-type ownership/permissions. Do not unless for very specific reason use FAT or NTFS in Linux ever -- and Plex "not being able to read ext4&...

Re: Transfer files from mac to linux retaining metadata

It mostly depends on what file-types you are interested in as to preserving "creation time" on and you above somewhere already said ".md files", which if we're indeed talking about "MarkDown" would be to say plain text files, i.e., a file-type without provision for stor...

Re: Transfer files from mac to linux retaining metadata

ps. My home directory problem is probably due to I chose encrypted home folder when I install this computer a few years ago. It will be yes. If you use home-directory encryption you use the "ecryptfs" file-system type, a layered but at the highest level still fully separate filesystem, an...

Re: Transfer files from mac to linux retaining metadata

It's not really a "basilar" [sic] thing: the attributes of a file are attributes of, well, said file and not so much of the contents of said file. Content-attributes are what general metadata is used for: if the time and date when for example a picture was taken is special, then why is not...

Re: Old and new files getting corrupted, garbled, encrypted or something.

<shrug> Local files being encrypted by NextCloud and seemingly then in at least some cases without the operator having been very explicit about wanting this to happen is such an oddity that, if I take it at face value, I would advise to completely purge the complete and utter piece or horrid garbage...

Re: REMOVE Boot Manager

Ubuntu and Mint installs its bootloader to /boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu/ -- which, mind you, is not part of the /boot filesystem but of the EFI System Partition mounted at /boot/efi/. Note however that it's your UEFI settings that refer to files under that location: if you just delete the UEFI boot-entries ...

Re: spaces in file names

Do you mean getting file names with embedded spaces onto that zenity list? If so: please note that in UNIX systems it's the shell that expands wildcards, i.e., that that entire ls is superfluous. That is, seems you likely simply want zenity --list [ ... ] --column="Files" *.sh Indeed the l...

Re: 27" LG monitor is reported as GoldStar 22" monitor

The size part is very likely a simple matter of your monitor's EDID in fact reporting it incorrectly. Try sudo apt install read-edid && sudo get-edid | parse-edid to look directly at what your monitor reports to the system. You'd no doubt see that "Goldstar" moniker, and also a &qu...

Re: Computer can access other computers on network but cannot access the Internet

It's ProtonVPN; your DNS-setup got disturbed (and seemingly your Firefox is using Cloudflare rather than the system DNS). It's been a well-known issue with Proton for quite some time now, see e.g., https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=387396, and one wonders why they're seemingly not fixing ...

Re: Old and new files getting corrupted, garbled, encrypted or something.

Not in detail. That first link that I pasted in says that one can with/through supposedly the NextCloud application that you installed "activate the default encryption module for local files" and then later deactivate it for new files again (the issue there is that this did not seem to dec...

Re: unable to use seagate USB3 8TB drive

Mmm. I called it "a relatively random guess" but the system did say it seemed to have misplaced its USB controller so I was actually giving this fair chance.

Sorry, no idea. You'd want to from an lsusb note the vendor-id:product-id and use that pair in Google.
