Re: worthless popup blockers

yes--ublock origin I also use noscript. Both involve taming I used noscript for quite a while but it eventually became far too wild....I had to release it. I don't have time to play lion tamer. Most of the popups, or many of them are not really ads..many are just "sign up for stupid notices that no...

worthless popup blockers

How do I really stop popups? I'm using FF 68 and have tried both adblocker and popup blocker, and to be honest they don't seem to do jack s*** anymore. I get popups everywhere. Popups are ruining my life. I especially want to kill the popups telling me to disable my popup blocker.

Re: W10 dual boot

I suspect, because you haven't said, that win10 is installed in UEFI mode. How to tell - go into BIOS and under the startup tab, you will see the settings. My T430 is set at the moment to Both, legacy first, CSM support yes. and yes, thats exactly how mine is set. If you are only using it to run Ar...

Re: W10 dual boot

Bad Medicine, great to read that your LinuxMint install finally has lifted off. Enjoy your stay in the Linux community. If you are not planning to use win10 much, just hit F12 on boot to get into win. A T430 is a good choice, cheap, reliable and you can do a lot with them. :) AndyMH' s advice is a ...

Re: W10 dual boot

success....sort of. I don't get a Grub menu and it boots directly into Mint, the opposite problem I usually hear about. I don't have much desire to see W10 anytime soon anyway, though I will need to figure this out eventually. The Windows partitions are intact

I'm getting ready to send a bomb to Microsoft.

Thanks Carum, I went through everything on that page too. Still Mint doesn't recognize that Windows 10 in installed.

Re: W10 dual boot

Ok I went through the 10000 aggravating steps and watched 12000 tutorials on how to make W10 do what used to take a single keystroke. I disabled fast starup and secure boot and sata is set to achi, but Mint still doesn't detect W10.

Re: W10 dual boot

Thanks, that got me started anyway but instead of giving me the option to install alongside W10 it installation says there are "no detected operating systems". Not sure what to do about that...As much as I'd love to wipe W10 (from what I've seen of it I loathe it) I need to keep it

[SOLVED] W10 dual boot

I want to install 19 in this new (refurbished T430) laptop with W10 already installed. I'm pretty confused after reading all the troubles people are having doing dual boots with W10. The BIOS options have changed enough from my last laptop that I'm not even sure how to get the Linux USB to run.

Re: getting ready to install 19 over 17.3...

Well....wait a minute. That dev/sda4 extended partition is just sitting there doing nothing, I believe. But I am pretty fuzzy on this sort of thing so I'll need someone to dumb it down for me. Can I just install 19 there instead of on top of 17? Do I need to create a logical partition first, or??? P...

Re: getting ready to install 19 over 17.3...

Should be fine, just choose ' something else ' during install and point the installer at your current / partition tell it to use it for / and reformat it. Can't remember if you also have to tell it to use the existing swap partition or whether it finds it automatically. Is the installer going to id...

Re: lost all recent urls

My browsing History was also gone, and I never delete it. I'm not sure if that's where the urls for the address bar are stored too, or if the History is completely separate.
