Re: Thinking of going back to Windows
@Drygar Who are you trying to convince? You want to go back to Windows, fine. But why spend 30-40 minutes posting a message about your decision in a Linux forum? Seems like a waste of time. I am trying to convince nobody. I don't think a giant like Microsoft needs help trying to convince anybody us...

Thinking of going back to Windows
I started actively using Linux around year 2015. Was long term active Windows user since Windows 3.11 until Windows 10 came out. I was disgusted by Microsoft's privacy and security practises, Metro apps, the Windows updates fiasco, overall Microsoft attitude and how they forced Windows 10. And while...

Sound gone after LM 20.2 update
I was one of the first users to update to latest 20.2 out of stupidity, excitement, and because I am still used to Windows world where it is believed that updates are for good (WRONG/WRONG aproach).... Anyways, I am without any sort of sound now. Sound and built-in mic don't work anymore. I just rea...

Why change something that is good and works
I have been using happily LM 18 and 18.3 but after the Firefox bug few days ago that affected those of us who have customized FF's interface, I decided that is finally time to update to either LM 19.3 or LM 20. I spent several days playing with: LM 20 Mate and 20 XFCE LM 19.3 XFCE I wonder why someb...

Re: [FIX] no swap on fresh LM19 install with home directory encryption
Hello, Is this issue fixed in 19.3 releases ? I can see that this "bug" has been mentioned here and in the official release notes of v 19 > https://linuxmint.com/rel_tara_xfce.php But it is not mentioned in the newer releases like 19.1 , 19.2 and 19.3 - example -> https://linuxmint.com/rel...

UFW - GUWF - issues - WARN: / is world writable!
Hello everybody, I hope you can help me understand more. I had issues with UFW and GUFW earlier today. I think I managed to fix them but I am concerned security-wise and I am wondering if anybody can provide some explanation to what caused the issue. Coming from a Windows world where security proble...

Approximately how many are we ?
Hey, Does anybody know approximately how many users are there worldwide who use Linux Mint ? I just noticed the main page of >> https://community.linuxmint.com/ It says "Users by edition" ? What is this ? Users part of the Community or users of LM ? If the second, they are way less than 10...

Re: [SOLVED] ALL Add ons suddenly stopped working in Firefox 66.0.3
I don't have Firefox ESR in the repositories. Default installation of version 18.3 and nothing comes up in Synaptic search. Only the mainsteam Firefox (now version 66), but no ESR version - checked them all.
Am I missing something ? How can LM deploy ESR if they are not present in the repositories

Re: My Mint crashes severely
Hi all, Thank you for the suggestions. I upgraded to 18.3 and so far so good. Like 24 hours with no problems. The upgrade was really fast, easy, really smooth. I was thinking before it would be somewhat painful, like Windows 10 upgrades :D :D but I was wrong. I have never performed in-place Mint upg...

Hi, My LM 18.1 XFCE started crashing severely since last week (Friday) - PC freezes to unresponsive or lots of things display errors to unusable and the only way out is to press and hold the power-on button to hard restart it. Sometimes several times. It has done it at least 20 times since Friday. S...

But it is so strange that it was working perfectly fine yesterday It froze completely, Linux Mint could barely load to password prompt. Bootable drives with LM or Windows could n...

The SSD was placed in a caddy and the HDD removed completely. All was fine until today when I wanted to make an image using Clonezilla. Less t...
