Re: Cinnamon writes a lot of info to my ssd for nothing. Why?
This might not be relevant, but I noticed if you are using the wallpaper slideshow option it'll write a scaled version of each image to your home folder every time the background desktop changes. I have hundreds of images changing fairly quickly, but I don't worry about it. When I first got an SSD I...

Re: Full screen games revealing desktop pixels along bottom and right edges of screen in Cinnamon on Mint 19.2
Running Mint 19.2 Cinnamon I have this same issue: When running a full screen game a small amount of the wallpaper can be seen at the bottom of the screen and sometimes on the right hand side of the screen as well. Game this issue can be seen in: Enter the Gungeon (and others, but i thought I'd prov...

Re: Where's the "Next Background?"
You're amazing Smurphos :D This is exactly what I was looking for. In addition to creating the desktop right click option I also added (from your example): dbus-send --print-reply --dest=org.Cinnamon.Slideshow /org/Cinnamon/Slideshow org.Cinnamon.Slideshow.getNextImage to a hot corner "run a command...

Re: Going back to LM 18.3
I have 18.3 on one machine, and Mint 19.x on another. Despite the difficulties I keep thinking about trying to get my older machine to 19.x as the features in it are worth the hassle.

[SOLVED - kinda] lightdm doesn't start on boot after 18.3 -> 19 upgrade
I was running Mint 18.3, and it was perfectly fine, so I decided to fix it. After updating to 19 the system boots, and then the screen goes black. I hit ctrl+alt+F6 or F1, logon to the console, and after about 20 or so second later lightdm does start on ctrl+alt+F6 and I can logon as normal. Any ide...

Re: [SOLVED] SMB shares in fstab no longer mount after recent updates
Thank you. adding a bash script to the /etc/network/if-up.d directory does make the drives mount on boot. While everything technically works, something has changed, and there is still some undesirable side affects from that change. More specifically: - on boot there is an error stating "Failed to st...

[SOLVED] SMB shares in fstab no longer mount after recent updates
I had working network share mounts entered into my fstab file, and when the kernel was updated they changed the default version it mounts smb shares with, so I needed to specify the smb protocol version to correct this issue. That said, this issue has been corrected and my current issue is something...

I have this same issue. Today I figure out the black square is coming from Keepass, and that I might be able to get rid of it with an extension.

I marked the issue as solved because I didn't want to bother people too much, and having a work around was good enough for me. I was planning to look into the issue with Firefox more myself... That said, I like Firefox better and the fix worked! so I'm very happy and this is a much better solution. ...

Re: IMHO- The Single Biggest Issue With Linux...
For a years I’ve lurked. Reading about Linux, and donating to a few of the most promising looking distros {including four donations to Mint}, as it looked like a possible future alternative to the less than desirable Windows 10. About a month ago, for the first time, I started an attempt to seriousl...

Searching for the perfect viewer {in my opinion}
For me an ideal image viewer: - Handles at least the common file types {*.jpg, *.png, *.gif} - Advanced from one image to the next by rolling the mouse wheel {other ways to go through images can exist, so long as the mouse wheel can be used as an option I'm happy} - When clicking on an image to open...

Thank you everyone who replied. I have tried stuff like Compton, but it didn't work out for me {I'm new to this, and feel I might have done something wrong, because the Compton task was stuck at 100% cpu use...} I'm actually happy knowing it's browser related and simply using Chromium mostly resolve...

Re: Does this playback smooth for anyone? {see post} If so what are you running?
Thank you for the reply. Both HTML5 and Flash video do not tear in Chromium, but the video linked above still stutters when full played full screen {forgot to include "full screen" in my original post :? }. I never thought it might be the web browser related, because I use Firefox all over the place...

Re: Audio device showing s32le when setting s24le in pulseaudio config file
Thank you for the reply. For music playback I have tried using Deadbeef to bypass Pulseaudio, and this resulted in the best audio quality. For everything else that runs through the audio manager I was trying to set the best sound quality settings possible. The changes I made to etc/pulse/daemon.conf...

Audio device showing s32le when setting s24le in pulseaudio config file
Running Mint 18.1, with all updates installed. I have an integrated Realtek ALC887 sound card, and I'm using the optical output on it. To get better audio quality I made the following changes to my /etc/pulse/daemon.conf: resample-method = src-sinc-best-quality default-sample-format = s24le default-...
