I have 18.3 on one machine, and Mint 19.x on another. Despite the difficulties I keep thinking about trying to get my older machine to 19.x as the features in it are worth the hassle.

I was running Mint 18.3, and it was perfectly fine, so I decided to fix it. After updating to 19 the system boots, and then the screen goes black.
