Re: Chromium Incredibly Slow to Load Pages on LMDE 4 (Firefox Fine, Internet Connection Fine)

Well.... It's been several days now. And I hate to report that on 2 laptops and my main workstation that Chromium still crashes. I even did a Deep Clean on all sub-folders in Home to get rid of Chromium after a re-install. I'm scratching my head on this one. The only thing I have noticed is that on ...

Re: Chromium Incredibly Slow to Load Pages on LMDE 4 (Firefox Fine, Internet Connection Fine)

As of Saturday 11:30pm EST.... A Chromium update is available.

I updated. Seems to run normal. But.... It still crashes.

Looks like I will be back on Chrome permanent now. :(

Re: Chromium Incredibly Slow to Load Pages on LMDE 4 (Firefox Fine, Internet Connection Fine)

I've had the same issue plus Chromium crashing. I've been running LMDE 4 for over a month with no problems on all my PCs. These were fresh installs. No upgrades. Chromium was running just fine until I updated it 2 days ago. Every PC I upgraded Chromium has FUBARed! I had to switch to Chrome to get a...

LMDE4 and Cinnamon 4.6+????

Quick question.... Will LMDE4 stick with Cinnamon 4.4 or will we get updates to newer versions as time/development allows???? LMDE4 has been really successful for my desktop needs. I left Mint-Land back in 2016 because of Ubuntu's Negative Directions. And now.... I am glad to be able to use Debian 1...

Mate 18.3 Network Proxy Preferences SSL Setup

I am currently using the Proxy Server TorGuard. HTTP proxy is working A-OK using the correct ports in Mate's Network Proxy Preferences. But, SSL is available. The SSL ports will not work in the HTTPS setup. The TorGuard Help Desk has stated that the only way to SSL via proxy is to use their browser ...

Re: LTS 4.9 Kernel

OK... Everyone... Don't get me wrong, I am still a fan of Mint. Just not Mint 18.x or higher at this point. 18 was bad for me.... 18.1 was better but still not great. I started using Mint back on 2.2 (Bianca). I was a loyal user until Mint 18. I don't blame Mint for the issues I am having. I blame U...

Re: LTS 4.9 Kernel

OK. If what I am hearing is true that Ubuntu maintains their own LTS Kernels.... I'm leaving Mint/Ubuntu again. This is just another example that Ubuntu plays by their own rules and tries to be a different type of Linux. They always have and always will. I thought I could come back to Mint and survi...

Re: LTS 4.9 Kernel

This the official listing of LTS Kernels: https://www.kernel.org/category/releases.html I go by this and nothing else when it comes to Kernel Information. Notice, 4.4 EOL is next year (2018). At least 4.9's EOL is 2019. I just came back to Mint after 8+ months on Manjaro Mate (I started using Mint b...

LTS 4.9 Kernel

I am wondering why the LTS 4.9 Kernel is not included in the Kernel's selection list? As far as I know... 4.4 and 4.9 are the latest LTS Kernels. What is the rhyme or reason that 4.4 is the only LTS option? What does 4.8 and 4.10 bring to the table over 4.9???? For me, I would like to only deal with...

Re: Linux Mint Arch Edition?

I 2nd this suggestion!!!! I have switch away from using Mint 17.3 Mate to using Manjaro 16.10 Mate a month ago. IMO... Mint 18 is/was not worth the upgrade. Manjaro's Mate distro is just snappier than Mint's. It boots faster and all software seems to be optimized better. I still love Mint though. I'...

Re: lm-sensors replacement???

Thanks again... LinuxJim. I was afraid I was going to have to do some backwards engineering to get CPU temps. I did research the chipset and did not find any modules/libraries for it. This is the 1st time, in ages, that I could not find an easy solution. Back in the early days, I used Slackware a lo...

Re: lm-sensors replacement???

Thanks LinuxJim.

The "acpi -t" command gave no information and the /proc/acpi folder only has this file "wakeup".

Any suggestions?

Maybe some sort of 3rd party hardware for temperature sensors that is Linux/Ubuntu compatible?

lm-sensors replacement???

Since lm-sensors is no longer supported/in-development.... Does anyone have any suggestions for a replacement? I built a 2nd computer to help transcode video. The lm-sensors lib does not detect CPU temperatures from the new motherboard. The temp is always displayed 0. But, will display a reading whe...
