Re: Linux Mint 19 codenamed “Tara”

I for one am looking forward to Mint 19 in its current form, whatever it may be. I currently have my travel laptop waiting for it. Tried the new Ubuntu 18.04 build in the three main versions, Gnome, KDE, and Mate. So far, I miss my Mint install. So I just keep checking 3 or 4 times a day to see if i...

Wonder how well this would work with mint-KDE to upgrade it to 5.10?

Re: Mint 17.3 on a tablet?

How does this sound for a triple boot setup:

Linux Mint 17.3/18 Mate

Android 6.0

Windows 10 Home/Pro

Opinions?

Re: Dual-boot or triple-boot tablet? Your preference?

You could get just Mint 17.3/18 loaded if that is what you wanted. Right now Ubuntu Unity is the default, but Mint could be added pretty quicly.

The dual/triple boot was just an idea due to the seeming popularity with the cheap Chinese tablets running an Android/Windows 10 dual-boot setup.

Re: Mint 17.3 on a tablet?

Well, after some further testing of 17.3 Mate and 17.3 Cinnamon on my friend's prototype tablet, he has decided that Mate seems to work a bit better on his tablet design. He said 17.3 Mate seems a bit more friendly with the tablet's touch screen input, so that will be the first Mint to be offered as...

Re: Mint 17.3 on a tablet?

Here is Mint 17.3 being booted from a USB stick on his tablet prototype. This is not the final case design. It would be cast aluminum, either in a black anodized or brushed aluminum finish. He said Mint works fairly well out of the box, and with just an initial loading of their touch drivers, you ca...

Can I ask what file type is you are trying to change the program association for? Iso? MP3?

Just trying to help figure out which file type might be still associated to k3b.

Re: Linux Mint without desktop environment?

I know this is an older thread, but another WM that I have used on older systems is JWM.

I know it looks like old Windows 95, but it can be themed a bit and it is pretty light on resources.

Re: NB200 which desktop?

I have an eMachines E-250 with the same specs as the OP user's Toshiba. I am running Mint 17.3 with Mate as the first WM. I agree with the previous poster, tiled WM's are the way to go on systems with these limited resources, especially the limited screen resolution. I use i3, awesome, and spectrwm ...

Mint 17.3 on a tablet?

Don't know if this is the right location to ask this, but if not, mods please move this thread. Would anyone have any interest for Mint 17.3 on a x86/x64-based tablet, with an optional keyboard? My interests are in mobile devices, specifically high end tablets, and I have tried running Linux on a fe...

Afternoon all

Not much for posting on forums, though I do lurk quite a bit here and on the Ubuntu forum. Decided to jump in and introduce myself. Running Mint 17.3 with Cinnamon, I3, and SpectrWM window managers. I like variety, and finally forcing myself to relearn the command line after a lot of years away from...
