Re: [NEVER MIND]broken package prevents installation of epson printer driver

Thanks for your reply @BenNevis. My post is now irrelevant. Once again, I've reinstalled Mint 17.3 because I encountered the same problem in Mint 18.1 that made me stop using Mint 18. This time however, Mint 18.1 lasted less than five days compared to all the time I flushed down the toilet fighting ...

Re: [NEVER MIND] NTP is suddenly making my boot from SSD take over 3 minutes!

I reinstalled Mint 17.3 and got rid of the problem. I also got rid of a several other problems. It's not a perfect solution because 17.3 isn't perfect, but it works MUCH better than Mint 18 does for me. I've been using Mint since version 12 and for me version 18 is incomparably worse than any other ...

Re: [Solved] conky problem with mint 18

I gave up on Conky 1.10. Look at this http://coreygoldberg.blogspot.com/2016/03/what-heck-happened-to-conky-im-rolling-back.html to go back to Conky 1.9 under Linux Mint 18 and have every conky thing work just like it used to with no pain and no change to your old conky files. If you get an update t...

Re: [Solved] conky problem with mint 18

OK, thanks. In addition to your sample scripts, I found /etc/conky/conky.conf as another example. It's mentioned at the end of man(1) conky under the FILES heading. For others reading this, I found a lua script that will convert old conky scripts to new ones, albeit not flawlessly. Read about it her...

Re: [Solved] conky problem with mint 18

Hi Pjotr. Could you please post a link to something that describes how to get Linux Mint 18 to convert old conky scripts to the new standard? I figure that even if it doesn't work well, it'll still give me a head start instead of converting my scripts completely by hand. After I upgraded from Mint 1...

I can't believe that a know-nothing like me was able to solve this! I found my answer here: https://01.org/linuxgraphics/forum/graphics-installer-discussions/intel-hd-graphics-driver-ubuntu-14.04-trusty-tahr All I had to do was install xserver-xorg-video-intel and run dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg. ...

Re: NVIDIA: "Running in software rendering mode", new after reinstall

@Laurent85: It's true that I originally upgraded my MBR installation from ver. 17.2 to 17.3. I think the kernel version went from 3.13.x-yy to 3.19.0-32. I then used the Mint Backup utility to save my home directory and the list of my installed software just before running the recovery discs for my ...
