Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 Bug Thread

Jaunty sucks hard for Intel GMA video card users (most laptops out there). So until they don't fix the crappy drivers I won't use any jaunty deviated distro. Also, on my tablet pc, since wacom stuff works out of the box now, there's no way for me to configure my stylus so that the button right click...

Re: French Mint wallpaper

It's ok... but I'm not a fan of 'watermarked wallpapers', i mean ones containing a logo, especially in the middle. Perhaps you guys should make nice wallpapers without mentioning mint or the logo? So that they could hopefully be used on other linux distros or even operating systems? Think about how ...

Re: TestaMint Wallpaper

Sorry but i don't like the wallpaper at *all*. I'm not very sure what's the deal with the art-team around, but for me many of the included wallpapers by default in Felicia didn't seem like "mint/a breath of fresh air" at all, but they had more of a "basement geek" feel to them. Again, I'm very sorry...

Re: Lose the "Linux" in Linux Mint

Linux imho is the most fugly name in the open source world... sounds like some deadly bacteria / virus thingy... not cool Doesn't seem ugly to me, but whatever. Anyway, "Linux Mint" seems like a fine name -- never heard anyone complain about it before. Hmm, should PCLinuxOS drop the "Linux" part ou...

Re: Lose the "Linux" in Linux Mint

Debian already supports BSD kernel, so 'linux' will be optional soon. This will really suck for Mint at some point because it has 'linux' in name i guess. A bit offtopic: IMHO ubuntu has a way better name (more meaning into it) and way better logo. Also besides the green i had to get used to everywh...

Re: General question regarding uninstalling apps

Not very sure but my guess is that removing might still leave the binary package in temp folder or something like that, which you can remove with 'sudo apt-get autoremove (ubuntu jaunty for example includes a 'janitor' application that's a nice GUI for doing that). Applications usually leave setting...

Re: Mac to Linux user

Welcome to linux :) When you're all settled down i suggest you set your workspace like this, might help find mint and the transition to linux a bit more comfortable, heck... probably i'll use them myself soon: System Wide Menu - Global Menu - Linux Mint 6 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PtOzhToq7o I...

Re: 32 Bit supports 64 bit and less buggy?

Good to know about this. Seen that fedora 11 or whichever is next had this on the to-do list. Going back to 32 bits right now; I'm figuring that both 32 and 64 bit architecture binaries will install with no work-arounds. Edit: wanted to install 64bit dropbox and it's saying wrong architecture... bah...
