Re: Wifi connected but no internet, new router, dual boot
Maybe I should have just stayed retired. Retierement was boring. These guys have me running my butt off. I can use my Samsung Galaxy to connect, Using DeX and a monitor, but when you have to save a file, you never know where it's going to show up. Yup. Just should have stayed retired, running Mint 1...

Re: Wifi connected but no internet, new router, dual boot
Yup. Completely unistalled Proton VPN. Now I have nothing. I can ping any destination I want. No problem Web not working. Can't go anywhere. This is not the first Mint 20.x this has happened to. The real issue is, it's on my work computer. They're not going to be happy tomorrow morning... I have a M...

Hmm....no takers?
It makes a connection, I can ping and get a response, but no internet traffic.
When I connect the VPN, no problem.

I didn''t like geegie. They added more "features" that, imho, ruined it.

Been using it for 17 years.
Best and fastest image viewer ever. Had it running until Friday on this machine, still running on two others.

As long as I have been using Linux, there are still some things I don't know muh about. My favorite photo viewer is GQView. I have managed to get it working, but I need to reinstall it. The hanging point is liblcms. It wants "version 1.15.9 or higher". It is no longer available as e .deb f...

Re: Wifi connected but no internet, new router, dual boot
Wow. Having the exact same issue! But, it was happening with my old installation and my old router. the PING command would return a good response, but couldn't use browsers. That was with 19.3. Now I'm on 20.3 and it's doing it again. It was working fine for a while. Now the only way I can get out i...

For sale to the highest bidder!
Once I finally decide to do something, I go on until I succeed, or realize I'm trying to put a large square peg
into a little round hole.
And even then sometimes I don't quit. And a few times, I managed to get it in.

Re: Hurricane Ian...
Once again, the southeastern U.S. is in the crosshairs of another potentially major storm. I've got my hurricane shutters up (for the most part) and supplies bought in. Because my present job is a telecommute one, it's possible, depending on what happens, that I could be working while the storm is ...

Re: Fine dining
There was a restaurant in Northampton MA called "Something" Depot, in the old train station. It was more higher end dining, without the high prices and snotty service. The Gas and Go in Williamstown, VT. HUGE BLT grinder, 5 years ago at $5.99 And the old Greasy Spoon on the edge of town in...

Re: How much do you mod your desktop?
Wild Child, I am a RICER that tends to break my system from time to time with installing eye candy (e.g. Plasma on top of Cinnamon) and get in trouble with purging. I change my desktop so much, that once a month I go into .icons, .themes, usr/share/icons, usr/share/themes, /usr/share/cinnamon/thumb...

You can turn off authentication in /etc/bluetooth/main.config, but then anyone that sees your BT can connect.

Re: What can we do to keep New users on Linux?
Having a friendly forum sure helps, if people use it.
Unlike my other favorite distribution, where even after years of running Linux if you ask a basic question you get told to flog off, n00b.
I think most people can guess what that one is...==============>

Try loading the Pulse equalizer. I was having the same issue, but with the EQ on it goes away.

Which version of Mint are you running?
I run Mate also, and it seems the people running Gnome aren't having these issues.
