Well .. this is a "doh" moment .. went back and looked at the setting for RST .. I managed to disable the controller which would explain it .. so I switched to ACHI and that worked just fine. Mint 20 running hot straight and normal now

personally, i'd do it the easy way and just wipe windows with a fresh install of mint. after backing up anything of importance, of course. heck with all that resizing and updating grub and stuff! See .. I should write this stuff down when I do it the first time. I remember having to disable secure boot when I was first setting this up. Loader was still there .. turned off secure boot and confirmed that and back in Mint. Thank you sir ... saved me a bunch of hunting
