Re: Min 17.3 KDE end of life date?

The answer is not so straight forward. Depends on the kernel version.

Re: Printer but no scanner

A solution has been suggested. I use Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon on two machines, an older Gateway desktop and an older Toshiba laptop. When I purchased a new HP Envy 5540, it would print but not scan from either computer. The desktop is connected by USB and the laptop is wireless. Also have an Asus ta...

Re: Scanning problem

Had similar problem with a HP all-in-one-printer. Was able to fix by installing latest HPLIP version from HP. Linux Mint 17.3 comes with HPLIP version 3.15.2 by default. According to HP support, your printer requires a minimum HPLIP version 3.15.6 as shown at this link. http://hplipopensource.com/h...

Re: [SOLVED] 32bit FF update for 64bit too?

As pointed out by Cosmo, you will miss the next update for that particular item. This FF update was applied to both 64 and 32 bit. I had 'ignored' the update for the 32 bit. I also have a 64 bit system which is how I knew that there was a new update. I went to the 32 bit system and had to remove FF ...

Re: 32bit FF update for 64bit too?

Right click the update in Update Manager and click 'ignore'. If at a later date you would like to revisit the update, you will find it under the Ignored tab of Update Manager.

Hope this helps

Re: dual boot and factory reset

I am currently running Mibt 17.2 on a Lenovo G-45, dual booting with Widows 8.1. The installation of Mint was done using gparted to resize the C: drive (/dev/sda). 1). If I select to reset Windows 8.1 to 'factory' will this remove grub? I just want to reset Windows, but not remove Mint. 2) If I wan...

Re: Unable to reboot LM18

Thank you Fred Barclay and altair4 for your replies. I better understand why so many have said that they would wait to install a new version, such as LM18. The Update Manager shows only 4 kernels available for LM18. Used LM17.3 on both machines and was able to restart. :? Shutdown is normal, however as it tries to restart it just sits, no script, just a blank screen with a flashing cursor on the Toshiba and a screen with the boot menu F12 option on the...
