Re: Shutter upload is not working?
I find that (on Mint 18, with Shutter 0.93.1), upload to Imgur as guest does not, indeed, work. However : I can set ITmages as the upload destination, and upload to that, and it works fine (and without the need for any dragging and dropping). So, problem solved, unless one specifically needs Imgur f...

Re: Synaptic messages after removing or installing software
Actually, bug reports filed for both Ubuntu and Debian suggest that this is not, in fact (despite the bug reports!) a bug but, rather, a misleading message. The Debian 'bug report' gives one hope that the message will be changed.

Re: mintupdate client not working
Richard Thanks for that - but it doesn't seem to work on my system. Admittedly, I haven't rebooted yet, but - having applied your attempted fix - I did restart Mintupdate, and restart Cinnamon (and my system is up to day), and . . no joy. Same error as before. This might be of some help [EDIT: I mea...

So I would do it only if I thought there was a good chance of success. However, you suggest that the attempted solution is a shot in the dark.

Re: mintupdate client not working
I have the same problem. One way to work towards a solution is to create an account on the Mint bugtracker (if you do not have one already; there is a 'log in/register' button on the top left) and then click the 'this bug effects me to' option on the relevant bug report (which does exist already).

> No, I have a desktop Oh yes - you did say. Sorry. I wasn't sure how those pictures fitted it. Probably I paid insufficient attention. At present I confine Linux to my laptop (unless you count my 'phone). One day I will move to Linux on my desktop too. At present my thinking is that that day will b...

Re: Conky Showoff thread
Thanks! Helpful.
Am I too take it from the pictures you provided that you are having trouble displaying your computer's battery charging status? I can do it on mine . . But I get the impression that there's some hardware difficulty; I imagine not being able to script it is not your problem . .

elbullazul: thanks!
Now, do you think you could tell me how to get conky to print 'CAPS' when caps is on, rather than 'on'? My Linux (/grep/Linux)-fu is not strong enough to do that on my own . .

Re: Conky Showoff thread
My pleasure! Here you go. Note, though, that the code is designed for my 1280 x 800 screen, and that I have had to use some hacks to get the positioning right - and so you might have to fiddle with the positioning stuff. Also, I use some particular fonts . . I tried attaching the files and it didn't...

Re: Cinnamon changes wallpaper automatically to default
I suffer this problem too, occasionally. I do not have slide show enabled. It seems rather to be the result of a crash. I read it reported somewhere else somewhere.
Code: Select all
$ cinnamon --version
Cinnamon 2.8.8
