Re: Intermittent problem - can't rename files in Caja

Yes, i've randomly experienced the same file renaming bugs/issues in Caja as you have. The only quick solution for me was, once I renamed the file, (via F2, or right-clicking on it), I then just hit the " Reload the current location " button on Caja's "Main Toolbar" menu, or, from the "View" -> "Rel...

Unminimize fails to open from panel randomly.

Mint Mate 19.3: So why does "Unminimize" via the mate panel FAIL randomly. ? and even when I right-click on it's properties, within the panel, and then left-click on "Unminimize", it still fails to open on the Desktop. ? This has also happened with Mint Mate 18.*, ... The apps of concern are as I sa...

Minimized apps on taskbar won't maximize again ?

Every now and then, (on Mate 19.*), I'll minimize a GUI-app from my Desktop onto the taskbar, but then it will NOT even maximize again.? It just sits there highlighted in bold, locked on the taskbar, doing nothing. I end up having no choice but to right-click on it on the taskbar and close it, and s...

Re: Change default location for flatpaks

Flatpak is by default stored in the root filesystem and Flatpaks can often get BIG in filesize. This causes problem for all of us that have the root filesystem on a separate partition. From early days this partition is usually allocated limited diskspace. I would like an easy parameter switch in co...

Re: Various problems with CAJA

Regarding the 'slow-to-open-folders" issues with Caja, I've created a github account and voiced my concerns upstream with one of the many other still open tickets there. https://github.com/mate-desktop/caja/issues/794 In the meantime, on my Mate 19.1, I've replaced Caja with Thunar <-which is far mo...

Re: Various problems with CAJA

So, for some reason it just takes an inordinate amount of time for the VERY FINAL part of the copy process to finish and the copy procedure window to close !!! Don't seem to have this problem though when copying anything other than the ISO image(s). Thanks. You should not rely on the "copy procedur...

Nemo, on the other hand, displays partial contents instantly and then loads the rest in the background. now that you mentioned this, and as a side note, shouldn't EVERY file-manager browse in this manner by now in Linux.? -( needless to say, a friend of mine has very fast folder opening load times ...

Re: Linux Mint LXQt 20.* ?

good answers all. I didn't jump on Mint, (as my main distro), until 17, but it was interesting to find a Mint LXDE version, and even Fluxbox, starting way back in LinuxMint 8 "Helena" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_Mint_version_history ... ah well, back to the future. ;) And agreed, a user/be...

Linux Mint LXQt 20.* ?

So we have Mint's: Cinnamon - the best of the heavy-weights for all users. Xfce, and MATE - the best of the medium-weights for all users. LXQt - the (future) best of the light-weights for all users. Remember when Cinnamon was started and developed from scratch, right here at LinuxMint,(with not much...

Re: Various problems with CAJA

Annoying Issue: large folders yep, containing terabytes, mostly local media stuff, and some external/portable. When i was using Mint's MATE 17.*/18.*, the folders were not near as large as it is now, hence why I didn't notice the extreme folder view lag before. Being that Nemo is (pretty well) desi...

Re: USB flash/thumb drives can ONLY be ejected, but not unmounted in GUI ?

Again, @rene I have no problems with "automounting". Yes you do. I quote: So, the only way I can format, re-partition a USB flash/thumb drive is to: -replug the usb flash drive in again. -then, (optionally) click "Cancel" in the pop up window -then open a Terminal, and run "sudo umount /media/[User...

Re: USB flash/thumb drives can ONLY be ejected, but not unmounted in GUI ?

I use gnome-disks (Menu->Accessories-Disks) to unmount without ejecting. Again, @rene I have no problems with "automounting". @DavePlummer. The problem with "gnome-disks", as you know, (other than having to open it just to specifically unmount USB thumbdrive partitions), is that for USB flash/thumb...
