Re: ? format Hdd Linux compatible with win10

If you want to use it as just data storage, you can format it as NTFS, that way both linux and Windows can read/write to the drive.

Re: Backups

I have three hdd's: sda1- 160 GB for system/boot sdb1 - !TB for home sdc1 - 1TB for backups and swap If anything happens to my boot/root drive, just replace and/or reinstall os without aff...

Mouse not working correctly after update

A few days ago, I had done an update along with a kernel update. Upon a reboot, seemed like my desktop had locked up after a few minutes. Logged out/in and it was ok at first, then started the same thing. I then dropped to tty1 and then back to X and everything worked fine from then on till i reboot...

Re: disk space can't log in?

Re: Global DNS change with LM 17 Live DVD / but IP from DHCP

On a side note, if you are behind a router, go into the router settings and set the desired DNS servers. This way, every time you turn on the pc, run live cd or connect to wifi, you automatically use the DNS servers set in the router, if you have auto assigned ip.

Re: Windowns VM in LInux won't recognize USB devices.

what is the version of VB? Start VB, click "Help" in top menu, then click "About". Post the entire version number

Anyways, you may need to install the extension pack for your version as well.

Re: Google Drive 2-way backup

you can follow this guide and see how it goes: https://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/2051 EDIT: The guide above does indeed work, but with a few modifications. First of all, you have to install google-drive-ocamlfuse by adding the official PPA: $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:alessandro-strada...

Folder owner issue?

Dunno if this is a big issue or not, but recently I noticed a change in my owner name. It use to say Owner: lonestar(lonestar), now it says Owner: comment(lonestar). Is there any way to fix this to what it was before? I have used chown to try and fix, but it didn't. Also comment(lonestar) is display...

Re: <Solved>Move home dir and reinstall grub?

yes, I could have used fstab, but I wanted to completely move /home to the other drive as I was gonna eventually move root over as well. When I reformatted the windows drive to move /home over, I went ahead and created a first primary partition to accommodate /root later on. Since my posts here, I h...

Re: Move home dir and reinstall grub?

you could move the /home directory to the bigger HDD, but it would be even easier to just move your data over to that big HDD instead, - keeping just the minimum on the /home directory of that 80Gb HDD. movies, music, documents - that sort of stuff, can all be moved over. Ok, say I format the windo...

Hello all, I have a dual boot setup with windows, with the widows drive containing boot. The windows drive is a 1TB drive with 2 partitions, one for system and one for backup storage. I want to format the windows partition and use that as my home dir, as the drive I have mint installed to is only 80...
