had some updates coming in today, one of them was a libquicktime file, that did the trick, my avi files are working again with kaffeine

constant upgrade packages message

hi since i've changed my medibuntu sources i'll always get the icon that there are new packages to install. these are the 6 packages. amarok amarok-xine k3b kaffeine-xine libk3b2 libk3b2-mp3 the problem is, i cant install them, they all have the status upgradable but the "no changes" in the requeste...

gosh, also a shot in the dark for me. but try for starters : "sudo apt-get update" than sudo apt-get upgrade maybe also sudo apt-get dist-upgrade.

maybe a forced install sudo apt-get -f install

try all those things, maybe one of them will do the job :p

try to startup your mint, even if you end up with that black screen... if you are at the point when you have the black screen, try to "CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE" maybe you'll get into the terminal that way.

hmmm... i have no clue what you have done... have you a backup of xorg.conf? maybe if you put the backup back it will work again.. the black screen is weird !

well, dont know how to put it on the desktop, but you can add as a applet to your panel?!

or maybe you can make a shortcut on your desktop, but than you want be able to see when its empty or not...

is it just your panel that isn't showing up at the bottom of your screen?

try to restart it : terminal: kicker (for kde that is, dont know the command for gnome...)

for my creative zen vision:m i used libnjb and libmtp in combination with gnomad2. but you have to make some symlinks... gosh, it has been ages ago since i installed my zen (on kubuntu dapper that was)... It was difficult, but it worked... but i dont know the exact way anymore.

thx for the advise. so far i didn't really had problems using sudo. :D about the avi problem, i'm working on it, in the mean while i can see my movies with vlc... But actually i have to concentrate on my exams... Next one is friday. When i really have some spare time i'll try other methods on kaffei...

aha ! i have some more information first of all , they are located in my home folder. they are all of the type ***.avi when i open them with vlc player i get no errors, i can hear and view the movie. With kaffeine : black screen but sound and with xine movie player : "error: ***.avi use an unsupport...
