My constant struggle with "file name too long" error when downloading torrents

Sometimes when downloading via deluge or transmission, I get the error 'filename too long.' I can resume the torrent, but it happens again a few minutes later. How do I prevent this error from occurring entirely? It makes for a terrible experience checking on the torrent every few minutes until it c...

Why did so many things update today at once?

Wouldn’t it be rad if Red Bull sponsored Mint? and we saw Red Bull over it like it was NASCAR.

Re: Controversy surrounding Mint sponsor, Private Internet Access

I would like to make my position a little more clear. I do not care what PIA does with their software. That is their business. My only point of contention is that their donations to Mint should not influence choices made in the design of Software Manager (namely, to put PIA on the frontpage, many ti...

Re: Controversy surrounding Mint sponsor, Private Internet Access

I have been interested in this subject since I first discovered PIA is a leading donator to the Miint project, and is also featured in the Software Manager. I've been aware since 18.x of PIA donating money to the project. I am aware Clem says donations do not steer decisions to include features. He ...

Upcoming "Tricia" release: What are you most looking forward to about 19.3?

Christmas will be here before you know it, and so will Mint 19.3! Whether it's a feature, or your specific plans, I'm interested to know what you guys are excited about. I am personally excited about the upgrade to Xfce 14.4. I'm also curious about Celluloid. Re: video player I've noticed that with ...

Smallest/most obscure reason you've ever changed distros?

I am switching out distros on my laptop - the only machine I can use for two weeks - because 19.whatever is the one that plays more games. I am on LMDE3 normally, except all my gaming rigs are packed up and this laptop is literally the only thing I can use, after water leaked in and destroyed my stu...

Software Manager entries are missing [SOLVED]

SOLVED by restarting the PC: I freshly installed LMDE3 on my laptop today. I was installing Skype for work, and clicked Install. A window popped up telling me of flatpak dependencies which also need to be installed. No big deal, but I thought, "wait, there's something else I need to do first," and s...

Throne of Lies

Runs perfectly for me on LMDE3. Anyone else playing this game on Linux?

If you've ever played Mafia at a party with friends, it's like that. Fun, inexpensive game that runs on any system...I've played hundreds of hours at least (I'm afraid to look)

Re: How to install the Tor browser into LM?

Use the simple instructions provided by the Tor Project.

Download the linux version file you need from the following website, and follow the instructions for linux users on that page.

gomerpile is a troll. I thought his thread about gaming on linux was funny, but this one - while equally half-hearted - is just not as funny.

Re: LMDE Users

I see what you're saying sdibaja, but in my experience the Mint 18.3, 19 releases, etc feel more experimental than LMDE, which is not all the time adding the features dumped into those point releases. With each point release I couldn't tell what small changes were coming until I installed it and not...
