safe to switch to KDE

I've been using Cinnamon since I installed mint a couple months ago. I love mint but I've tried KDE on a different distro before and want to switch to it. I hear some people say it's fine to install and switch to KDE, and some say it's not a good idea. So I figured I'd come and ask the pros! Can I i...

mouse back an forth buttons dont work

I have a logitech wireless mouse. It has the fancy buttons on the side that work as back and forward buttons, but they dont work in Mint. Does anyone know how I can get them to work?

What do you like about mint?

Hello everybody. I'm new here. I started an intro thread earlier today and had a few warm welcomes. Thanks everybody. Ok so, on to my main point: I have been a windows user for years, but dislike it more and more with every new edition. So far, I like mints simplicity. I feel like when I tell it to ...

Well hello

Hello everybody! I guess it's about time I introduce myself. I just got done setting up a dual boot of Win10 and Mint. I did this a couple years ago, but more casually just for the heck of it. This time I want to start really making the shift to use mint as my primary system. I originally tried to d...

I'm very experienced with Windows, but Linux is pretty new. Could you elaborate on why you would not recommend LMDE for newbies?

Whats different about debian mint?

I tried Linux Mint a couple years ago. I liked it, but when I started learning more about Linux and its derivatives and distros, I found out that it is built on Ubuntu. I then also found out that there is a mint version built on Debian. What is the difference between the two? Is there an advantage o...

Installing KDE to a mac book pro

My girlfriends mom wants to install Mint KDE onto her macbook pro. Do we need to download a special installer for this?

Also, is this as easy to do on a mac as it is on a PC? We will not be dual booting

Re: Is triple booting possible

This is all very helpful! Tank you all. I looked at LXLE like reorx suggested. It looks nice! May just give that one a try for my light weight distro. I know that Linux is not really built for gaming, but if I wanted to try and run windows based games through wine. would it be better to use a lightw...

Re: Is triple booting possible

Actually after tooling around on distrowatch and youtube, I'm thinking of trying either kali or parrot. I'd like to get into that kind of stuff. wondering which would be better, how easy they are to install, etc.

Is triple booting possible

Hi folks. I recently set up a dual boot on my computer with windows 10 and Mint. I'm using windows 10 primarily for gaming, and mint for web surfing, downloading etc, and to just play around with a new/different OS. I like Windows and Mint cause they are both fancy, and pretty with lots of bells and...

Re: Whats so good about KDE

I just installed in on Virtual box ... but may be too resource intensive for me. I have a feeling it would bog down my games. Know that performance on VirtualBox is most likely different than if you installed it outside of a virtual environment. Note that Cinnamon isn't the most resource conservati...

Re: Whats so good about KDE

I just installed in on Virtual box. It is nice, but it may be more than I need. I dig it's customization and it's overall look. I don't like the menu though. So far I like Cinnamons menu best. It just seems layed out in ways that make sense and navigating it is easy. I use my computer mostly for gen...

Whats so good about KDE

I hear a lot of people talk about KDE and why it is the best. I'm currently running Mints default cinnamon and am wondering what is so great about KDE? Also, if I decide to switch to it, how do I go about installing it?

Hello mint community!

Hello Mint community! My name is Phiver. I recently decided to break free from the windows world, and join the Linux community. After checking out distrowatch, and playing with a few different ones on Virtual box, I found that Mint seems right for me. I am excited to learn this new OS, and look forw...
