Re: Make play/pause always play/pause VLC no matter what other software is also running
So far, no solution though I appreciate the SMPlayer recommendation. I'm liking it a lot. I've made Enqueue in SMPlayer my Preferred Application for videos and that has made it very easy to queue videos to follow the video I am watching. I have, in the past, figured out a way to do similar with VLC ...

Re: Make play/pause always play/pause VLC no matter what other software is also running
I guess I shouldn't have mentioned VLC and simply said I would like to give certain software play/pause key priority. This is not an issue with VLC, this is a keyboard issue with LM

Give a preferred application play/pause key priority
(8/12/2022 updated Subject to no longer be VLC specific) I've searched everywhere for years for solutions with different versions of LM and never found a good solution. In Linux Mint 21 “Vanessa” Cinnamon, is there any way to make the play/pause key play and pause VLC or SMPlayer even if some other ...

Re: screen tearing google chrome
That's an issue with Chrome in every operating system. The solution is to turn off hardware acceleration in Chrome.

In case anyone is wondering if the problem still exists with the latest mesa update ( 19.0.8 ), the answer is yes.

Re: [Fix available] Window manager xfwm 4.13.0 broken after last mesa update
Again the same thing happens with Linux Mint 19.2 Tina in xfce. No, it doesn't, Linux Mint 19.2 Tina ships with xfwm4 4.12.5 and has no upgrade to 4.13. xfwm4 4.12.5 plays nicely with all mesa versions. That said, I have got Linux Mint 19.2 Tina working fine with xfwm4 4.13.4 (from https://l...

Hi pcspecialistpdx. Would you mind posting the output from running inxi -G in the terminal? I'm suspecting the PPA gave you LLVM9 and I'd just like to see if that's the case. Re: [Fix available] Window manager xfwm 4.13.0 broken after last mesa update
I finally got around to trying mesa 19.2 from https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/ubuntu/graphics-drivers?field.series_filter=bionic xfwm 4.13.4 works fine with it (compositing on) and I suspect 4.13.0 would too. (as with xfwm 4.13.0, xfwm 4.13.4 does not work with mesa 19.0.2) Just to be clear, m...

Re: [Fix available] Window manager xfwm 4.13.0 broken after last mesa update
mesa 19.0.2 did not fix the issue. I've been tempted to try mesa 19.2 but have not got around to it yet.

Re: [Fix available] Window manager xfwm 4.13.0 broken after last mesa update
There is very good reason to do so, we need xfwm 4.13 to prevent screen tearing.

Re: [Fix available] Window manager xfwm 4.13.0 broken after last mesa update
That's a question for the Xfce team and there doesn't seem to be any urgency to fix it.br1anstorm wrote: ⤴Wed Jul 24, 2019 6:31 pm I know it's an upstream problem and not directly under the control of the Mint team. But what's the latest news (or the forecast timescale) for a full solution to the current problem?

Re: [Fix available] Window manager xfwm 4.13.0 broken after last mesa update
It's a temporary "fix" until there's an updated 4.13 that plays nicely with the latest mesa or a mesa update that plays nicely with 4.13. I personally would have preferred a mesa rollback but that wouldn't have been as easy or quick a temporary fix. Why do they downgrading to 4.12? This ve...

Re: [Fix available] Window manager xfwm 4.13.0 broken after last mesa update
But (as a relatively inexpert user...) I am still slightly uncertain what to do. I'll do a Timeshift snapshot first anyway. But should I a) sit on my hands for another few days before I run the latest batch of updates..... just to be on the safe side? b) uncheck the "mesa" and "xfwm4...

Re: Window manager broken after last update
will that sure made it easy to fix. I booted to the command prompt, then apt update, and then apt upgrade and aside from a little screen tearing, all is well.
