Re: DROPBOX - so, where are you going with it?

Since Dropbox now limits to 3 accounts I'm replacing it with pcloud. I'll check into pcloud. Thanks. As it looks, I'll only have my Desktop and phone to consider (maybe a laptop as well), and with only ten or so files (of no importance other than convenience of access among my devices), security is...

DROPBOX - so, where are you going with it?

Hey all, Okay, for me, I'm not worried about encryption, so I guess Dropbox will work fine for me. But I'm wondering what others are doing, even those who don't need encryption but don't like the recent moves Dropbox has implemented. What are your thoughts? What are you doing about? Will you continu...

Re: How to transfer files between Linux and Mp3 Player

Well, that's hopeful. I'm looking at this MP3 Plaer , something to listen to rain and wind when I sleep...or not listen but...well, you know! I thought about just using my phone, but I guess that would be more wear and tear on the battery; having it plugged in all night, every night for 7-8 hours at...

How to transfer files between Linux and Mp3 Player

Greetings,

Is there a way to transfer files from Mint onto a small MP3 player? There are some audio files off some sites with weather sounds for sleeping at night that I want.
Do I need to ensure that the MP3 player I get has a particular protocol or something?

Thanks much.

HexChat: SASL Authentication Failure!

Greetings, I'm having an issue after logging into HexChat, especially with Spotchat. I get a constant populating SASL Authentication failure - it just goes on and on. When I join Linuxmint-help and -chat, I can identify but no one sees my chat; it's somewhat gray. With other servers, I've seemed to ...

[SOLVED] Update Manager - another "Could not refresh the list of updates" issue

Greetings, This started yesterday. running apt-update (and upgrade) and then restarting seemed to clear it, but it came back. Have done this a few times now and get the same results; eventually the red X comes back. Here's the output: Ign:1 http://mirrors.evowise.com/linuxmint/packages tessa InRelea...

Re: HexChat - the default server for linuxmint-help

I'm pretty new to all this, so I'm not to sure what to do with the information from jchelpau and JeremyB. As to irc.spotchat.org port 6697, I'm looking at the list of networks right now. Do I need first a network with which to Edit and neter the spotchat information? If not, how do I enter it. As to...

[SOLVED] HexChat - the default server for linuxmint-help

Greetings, In Hexchat's list of networks, I managed to do either wipe out or change the network that creates the default logon for #linuxmint-help and #linuxmint-chat. It was spotchat or something. So, I deleted the config files for HexChat, and now I'm starting from the beginning. Opening HexChat s...

Not more so than Wine. If you're okay with using Wine (as I am), then there is no reason to worry about Mono.
Excellent! Thanks much.

Re: Issue installing Wine on Linux Mint 19

The forum guidelines state that every new question deserves a new topic, so that's quite clear. If you're saying that you're having an issue, and are at a loss, well... I'd call that a question. I can see how you would think I had a question, but no, there was no question. I wasn't ready yet to pos...

Issue installing Wine on Linux Mint 19

Like this poster , I'm having an issue as well with installing Wine. I followed these instructions , and the last step running sudo apt-add-repository 'deb https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/ bionic main' I then tried Apt install wine and it responded with Package wine is a virtual package pro...

Re: Xiphos software: regular or Flathub

Hey, thanks much.
I didn't know it was a flatpak. I saw "flathub" and thought, well, I'll check around the Web for that, but didn't find much. (And, of course, you referenced a doc that has both names mentioned! My search skills...I tell ya!)

Thanks again!
