Re: Garmin Nuvi 200w SAT NAV Completely wiped off!

well, now you have a pretty good paper weight. why do you think this forum can help? you need to contact support at Garmin and ask there how you can restore a formatted nuvi.
what i did with my garmin is copied it completely the first time i plugged it in so i have a backup of it.

Re: Could not update .ICEautority file /home/linda/.ICEauthority

in your file manager hit CTRL+H which will show/hide hidden files/folders then delete .Xauthority and .ICEauthority
but why do you try to log into admin?

Re: Garmin Nuvi 200w SAT NAV Completely wiped off!

when you plug it into your usb can does the nuvi detect as storage device ? how did you get it wiped off? need more info to asses what exactly needs to happen. updates to the software are done with https://www.garmin.com/en-US/software/express/ but for windows only.

Re: Too many nvidia drivers in driver-manager.

this is a nvidia forum question, but the logical process is to select the latest the driver manager offers you. essentially all nvidia drivers are beta drivers even for windows. you do not need to upgrade from 396 if things are working. usually there will be bug fixes and enhancements or retractions...

Re: Too many nvidia drivers in driver-manager.

having a list of drivers not used in driver manager will not break anything only your piece of mind. the list is actually from a remote server and none of those files are on your computer. i didn't even think the xorg-edgers ppa still existed, i used it with ubuntu 12.04 i have no idea what card you...

Re: Too many nvidia drivers in driver-manager.

if your system works i would most honestly create a timeshift snapshot first. then purge nvidia , remove both ppa, apt update reboot . test what's installed dpkg -l nvidia and then use driver manager to install whichever driver it offers. then and only after a successful reboot use dkms status to se...

Re: pkexec polkit

in arch linux i still make use of gksu. Timeshift for example is opened with gksu instead of pkexec. i like it because it gives me the option to save password and only input it once. Timeshift which i use a lot always requires you to enter password even if you closed it a second ago i used to be abl...

Re: Home .cache folder. Is it OK to clear this?

i do it quite often. my practice is delete everything in .cache then logOFF/IN to refresh the cache
remember that deleting the browser caches in .cache like google-chrome or mozilla will not delete your history for chrome browser or firefox. for that you need to use the browser menu

yes i have to do the same and is good practice. i usually base my cleaning by my gpu fanspeed. i have a conky on the desktop telling me it's temperature. when the gpu hits around 47C on idle i also take out my tower and use my vacuum to blow out all the air. you have to be careful if you use a car s...

using a low latency kernel will not profit you much if you don't play musical instruments hooked up to your computer. instead try a hardware enabled kernel Nonsense. Wow. Yeah 43 degrees C vs 61 degrees C is quite a difference! Looks like i'll be updating to XFCE when it's time (soon). Cinnamon has been nice, but far too hot for me and my hardware in general. Thanks for the update and comparison :) XFCE was nice while it lasted. in my arch install XFCE is now u...

Re: Davinci Resolve not starting, complains about CUDA but Driver Manger isn't working

the answer is in the error Details. delete the brave-browser file it's talking about
then you should be able to open Driver Manager after you apt update in Terminal
