rename your .mozilla and open firefox to test it with default options then delete the new .mozilla and rename your old back. did a new profile do anything?

in etc/cron.daily/ there is a script mlocate you can compress it then delete the file. if you want to reactivate go back to etc/cron.daily/ and UNcompress mlocate mlocate is stored in /var/lib/mlocate/ and it's a database for making file search faster. i usually update it with catfish under settings...

in my Linux Mint Mate 17.3 x64 i don't have the option to go higher than kernel 4.4.0-98, how would i upgrade the kernel

i'm sure the good people of linux mint team will update patches as they are available. these patches come from intel. this code will give you the last date but not sure what that date means.

i believe you need to install the mint-mdm-themes package to see all available in repos some have all users listed on one page like the Arc Userlist Themes

it shouldn't be this hard to install drivers seems the higher the nvidia drivers get the harder it is to install correctly

The backup rate was initially 600 MB per second which dropped to 130 MB after 30 minutes and it kept on dropping. 26gb estimated backup time was 2 hours. Has anybody experienced this? yes , if you copy windows files in windows it copies at regular rate of the drive, if you copy from linux to an NTF...

this depends on your phone. do you android settings>connect to pc>media device (MTP) do you have automatic lock on? move it to 30 minutes

nah man, don't compress anything or look for backup tool to copy files. if you're not wanting to backup a whole entire system's OS with boot loader then your best option is to copy the folders you want in WINDOWS not in LINUX. copying in linux will have cache limitations on speed with ntfs anyway so...

reboot
install drivers again
