Re: No HDMI signal to TV with Radeon GPU laptop

Hold down the shift key while booting to bring up the grub menu, but don’t press the ' E ’ key. i'd like to say some bad word to whomever removed or did not add a boot menu in linux mint. i recently acquired lenovo flex14 ryzen5/amd picasso and it has terible error logs with kernel 5.4 _ 5.3 and 4....

Re: mint 19.3 and ryzen screen flashing on and off

with amd graphics and ryzen i see that new kernels don't like them much. try kernel 5.0 but this one is going to die in February, still you need to find your sweetspot for your hardware. on a fresh boot open Logs and in Important tab it will tell you how your current kernel is doing. see differences...

Re: All Desktop Screenshots of 2020

here is my cool desktop. with cairo dock qmmp, conky and compiz. https://ibb.co/52LY1cH https://ibb.co/KxRpwCs i would edit out your public ip before posting snaps, not that anyone would try to hack you but you never know. also i would remove harddisk I/O from your conky, that eats up a lot of reso...

Re: password

boot with your live mint usb/cd open file manager CTRL+H will show hidden files then delete .ICEauthority and .Xauthority from your user home folder and reboot
maybe sounding too obvious but password you type is wrong or you hit another key by mistake
if it's a new install, install it again

Re: Star Trek: Picard... who here is planning on watching it?

i'm there but it's a different timeline so after suffering through all the politically correct renovations i hope it to be a decent Star Trek. but as we see with Discovery, that may not be. die hard trekker here, but i'm not biting my fingernails i'm sure i'll get a same shock i did when i seen the ...

Re: Fingerprint GUI working for login and sudo only

I really don't think the correct advice to someone who has just come to LM is to turn off passwords. Maybe I misread the thread and the ADHD is kicking in, but if you can't get your fingerprint to work, then just use Veracrypt or whatever for your work files or files you are worried about going mis...

Re: mint 19.3 and ryzen screen flashing on and off

I get many strange script errors when I try to build 19.50 on 5.3, any idea where they are coming from? you've gone to the dark side my friend. i do not build drivers for ryzen3/5 i stay with the open source drivers that are built into the kernel. you'll get no help here in build errors, i too trie...

Re: Fingerprint GUI working for login and sudo only

Thank you! I will think about it a bit if I want to implement this, but thank you for sharing how to do it. you have no idea how relieved i am after entering passwords for years installing and uninstalling to not be bothered for authentication. the quote i liked which i forgot is something like thi...

Re: Question about Manjaro and HP Envy x360 13-ar0022nn AMD Ryzen 5 3500U laptop

so i'm beginning to partition my 256GB_nvme to install mint in separate /root /home partitions. it's a shame that only 256GB is available and even more shame that i have to compromise hardware for price. in my win10 i get about 720 fish in automode with ryzen5 laptop and in ryzen3 desktop i get arou...

here' is my new and improved default.pa to include analog+hdmi compressor. hdmi usually will not need volume amplification, and i only created one hdmi sink. this script is specific to your hardware so you need to find out which output to use in it. commands are in the script to find out which sinks...

not one post output for dkms status ??? if you have nvidia you should know that with every kernel upgrade nvidia also need to be upgraded. in arch linux kernel+nvidia packages are upgraded together. this means that all modules need to be rebuilt. i don't spend my time with my nvidia-340 now i have r...

i know stressing hardware can cause further damage, but you can try to copy some large and small files to something external and back to see if you have same issues. include a few videos and some compressed files
