Re: Can I remove .cache in home directory?

don't delete .cache folder every linux needs it. you should not add it to a tmpfs if you worried about size going 6GB+ which will fill your RAM

i usually just open .cache folder delete everything in it then logoff

why do you have this line ?
"quiet splash crashkernel=384M-:128M crashkernel=384M-:128M"
when you play youtube with chrome, click the sound tray icon settings and select one that works.

Re: Pulseaudio-Equalizer-gtk loads once

i should clarify, if you use pulseaudio-equalizer-gtk you can not use my ladspa script for compressor. they both use same .config/pulse/default.pa and the equalizer-gtk will always win over my script you have to make a choice which you want your defaults. after long thinking i chose to say with my s...

Re: How is linux kernel 5 on linux mint?

i have had to uninstall your PPA, i got conflicts with gdebi, and my synaptic package manager would not open mintsources any longer. not sure if my synaptic is the issue (i have the one with upgrades not removed). did not know you can use your scripts for mintupdate to install kernels. is this new?

Re: Used Timeshift to restore and am locked out

when restoring with timeshift i always UNcheck the Bootloader Options (Advannced) this will reset your grub to default and ubuntu may show instead of mint, this is a mint issue. if the grub menu is broke, then i use timeshift again and use the bootloader installation, but then i CHECK all in advance...

Re: How is linux kernel 5 on linux mint?

Here is a somewhat unsystematic answer to your question. I'm running a 5.1 kernel, via the (paid) version of the Ubuntu Kernel Update Utility. (The kernel I have is not the very latest stable version, because 'UKUU' had trouble installing that.) I find that it works fine. when ukuu has trouble inst...

Re: [SOLVED] teegee2008 PPA

untrusted in this case means anything that is not from the official ubuntu repositories. for instance you could have a ppa and maintain it. you would be untrusted even though we all trust you.

Re: Driver Problems with AMD R5 230

create a timeshift snapshot because after this there is no undoing, or hard to get back to where you are, but should work safely. then run this command from this wiki. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack sudo apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-hwe-18.04 xserver-xorg-hwe...

Re: Problem installing AMD RADEON RX 550 ...

you already have drivers: ati, amdgpu in your inxi report. you do not need anything else if you want something more current i would suggest the HWE kernel from ubuntu BUT do yourself a favor and use timeshift to create a restore snapshot as you may still have packages from amdgpu-pro conflicts this i...

Re: Problem installing AMD RADEON RX 550 ...

you should not have installed amdgpu-pro from the AMD.COM site using the mint guide from 2015. i don't even know what drivers you downloaded, amd hides linux drivers did you not setup timeshift to reverse your mistakes? if you did undo your system before messing with installing drivers. also apt has...

Re: How is linux kernel 5 on linux mint?

test it yourself with dmesg | grep -i "error\|warn\|fail" seconds after a fresh boot, then use timeshift to backup your system, then install whatever kernel you want, test it again with the dmesg code again and compare the two you may get a lot of warnings/errors but does not mean something is wrong
