Re: SD card is read only?

Check the most obvious thing first... is the little slider on the side in the right position? Sorry, slightly mis-worded that, Micro-SD Card which doesn't have that. I'm so used to them that I forgot the seldom used micro prefix ... •DOH!!•• But the adapter does... Ok, I feel stupid right about now.

SD card is read only?[SOLVED]

That's the error message I got when I tried to move some files to an old SD card from an Android phone. I've seen that error from a memory stick before, but this time I could afford to format the drive, only to have that fail do to an unknown error. Um, now what do I do? Permissions look fine, so it...

Re: Keyboard layout error

Open the settings for keyboard -> keyboard layout -> click the + sign at the bottom left and select the layout of your choice. After that you might want to remove the Portuguese layout, if you want with the - sign. Or if you want the option to switch between them, move the one you want as default t...

Thank you for your advise, but this was not the problem. Now I just forgot about the problem, installed something, and now it occured a second time with the same picture  I mean I unlikely will not install programs while presentations. But why did it happen again? I've had something similar h...

Re: Where are my favorite programs?

I just fired up Libre Writer 5.2, and the spell checker works as I expect it to, and there is definitely a thesaurus function that is accessible in several ways. Regardless of the quality, the spell checker and thesaurus certainly work in the Libre suite. -Cyril Pardon a little thread jacking, but ...

Re: ASROCK H110M-STX Linux compatible?

Long answer, This just a re-engineering of hardware based upon the intel platform architecture using different form factor, so it should in effect work perfectly. The drivers written for the M.2 slots and the power/sata slots will probably be kernel generic. Linux will basically run on a toaster pr...

ASROCK H110M-STX Linux compatible?

Self explanatory question, no? There's an article about it here: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/asrock-h110m-stx-motherboard-stx,32337.html. Its the first STX board out, and while I'll prolly go with a mini-ITX board for my build, the mini-STX standard is rather appealing because of its...

Re: Mailnag Applet source?

Hi Taur10, Mailnag is an available applet( don't need a zip file). Open up the applets manager, select 'Avaiable applets (online)' tab and search for mailnag, install it, click on the 'Installed applets', then right click on it and select 'Add to panel'. Once its added to the panel right click and ...

Mailnag Applet source?

And its a question, as the Applet control panel gives me a 404 error when I try to install it. I did download a .zip of it, but have no idea where or how to install it.

So, the full version of the question I suppose is how do I install the zip, or is there an alternate source?

Re: Lost tray icons?

It it possible that you removed the System Tray applet? Rightclick on the panel, choose Add applets to the panel, and you'll see the list. System Tray applet should be marked as active in that list. ••slaps his forehead•• Doh!¡ Thanks, at least it was an easy solution. Never occurred to me that the...

Re: Seriously? I mean...SERIOUSLY??

You think a keypress sound feedback app is weird, huh? You should have been around during the 80s, because: Shall I go on? ;-) Yeah, I think we used to have a lot more fun back in the day than we do today... And into the 90s, and I was just thinking about that m'self. At one time I had a set of goo...

Lost tray icons and editing icons?

Ok, basically I uninstalled Choqok (I think that was the Twitter client, been playing with a few), but its tray icon stuck around. So, I right clicked it and deleted it, simple... Except that now Telegram doesn't have one either, in fact all but the basic system ones (battery, user, volume, etc) are...

Re: Installing Google Chrome (Not Chromium)

Is it possible to play netflix movies with slimjet. Nope, 'fraid not. I got further than using Chromium in that it showed an image from it, then popped up an error asking if this was a real version of Chrome (don't remember the exact wording). This on top of it screwing up my desktop (changed the i...

Haven't used it, but know a couple people who have and seem happy enough with it. Me, I'm a bit uncomfortable with a cloud based computer, heck, I download all my emails. Yes, I'm weird.

Re: Is it possible to completely remove Windows and make this a linux only machine?

Its certainly an option, when I installed 17.3 + Cinnamon I specified only Linux, and that's all my old laptop has. Not sure if there's a way to change it after install, or ifn you'll have to go back and reinstall though.

Re: Keyboard layout (language) at login screen!

Not sure I understand the question, the computer is in the wrong layout when you're logging in, or...? I know once you're logged in, the easy solution is via the Keyboard control panel which can tell you what layouts are installed, and even show you what it looks like on your keyboard (it may sound ...
