Re: IPv6 privacy extensions - not working: reset every few seconds

Huh? What happened here? So to clean that up: The "[Solved] Activiate IPv6 privacy extensions on Tara (also after upgrade)" post that just appeared here in the thread has only remotely to do with the topic here. I did this in an extra thread, not to confuse ppl. It is an explanation on how to activa...

[Solved] Activiate IPv6 privacy extensions on Tara (also after upgrade)

Just a note, if you are trying to activate IPv6 privacy extensions under Tara (or you are coming from pre Ubuntu 17.04 versions). As Ubuntu switched to nplan for configuration, there is a Bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nplan/+bug/1750392 , which ignores the sysctl settings. You need t...

Re: IPv6 privacy extensions - not working: reset every few seconds

I would guess this is a bug somewhere in the networking. The router advertisements for temporary addresses should be ignored and the lifetime just be counted down.

However what is the right module to report a bug to?

Re: IPv6 privacy extensions - not working: reset every few seconds

Yes, was on that page already when trying to activate privacy extensions. For some reason my system is ignoring the sysctl configuration completely. I needed to set it in the network manager per connection. (This seems to be another bug?). However the countdown for the addresses get reset. I figured...

IPv6 privacy extensions - not working: reset every few seconds

Hi there, On my system (Mint 19 Cinnamon) privacy extensions for IPv6 are activated and I successfully get a global temporary dynamic IPv6. However this IPv6 does not change. The lifetime is being reset every few seconds back to 14399. Then counts down for a few seconds and gets reset. Hence the IPv...

Re: Cinnamon high CPU usage in Mint 18

Hi all, the link above was focused a lot on suspend and resume problems. However by reading it, there was someone talking about using bleachbit. Haven't used that for a long time, I decided -unrelated to this bug- to do so as root. Killed 20GB of my drive and surprise: So far, for this weekend cinna...

Nope never fixed it... No one reacted to the thread anymore :-(

For me a restart of cinnamon once in a while reduces the problem. Alt-F2 then "r"

Re: Cinnamon high CPU usage in Mint 18

Hi, no I had Cinnamon since I switched to Mint. Never hat the problems in the 17.x releases. It started after the upgrade to 18. Not sure if this is a disk space problem, but here is the output requested: parted -l: Modell: ATA LITEONIT LCS-256 (scsi) Festplatte /dev/sda: 256GB Sektorgröße (logisch/...

Cinnamon high CPU usage in Mint 18

As advised, I created a new thread for this problem, instead of using an unsolved old one (https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=208&t=199900) Since the update to Mint 18 my laptop freezes for 1-2 seconds. The freezes occur more often the longer the laptop stays on or has been in standby. I f...

Re: Cinnamon high CPU usage

I have the same problem in Mint 18 Sarah. Cinnamon spikes to 100% freezing the laptop for 1-2 seconds. It gets worse and more often the longer laptop is running. A full restart helped, but after reading a bit it is just enough to restart Cinnamon, then it resets and takes a while until freezes come ...

I am still experiencing it and it seems to become worse when I use a lot of standby.

Re: Slow issue - New Linux Mint 18

As mentioned in the firefox and chrome freeze thread, I have the same problem, but running a Mint 18 Cinnamon. My one is an upgrade from 17.3. I noticed a new thing, in every stutter, the "cinnamon --replace" uses 100% CPU and locks the system. As with my previous poster, it goes away after a reboot...

Re: Videos stutter in Firefox and VLC [WORKED AROUND]

I am not sure about that graphic card support thingy. I do not have any fancy graphics card, also this problem only started after upgrading to Mint 18. Also the stutter becomes worse and more often the longer I use the laptop. A restart then refreshes it, but after a while it is back. Whole system i...

Re: Videos stutter in Firefox and VLC [WORKED AROUND]

Hi there,
I have a similar problem, but for me not only the video playback stutters, but the whole system. In all applications I get a stutter every few seconds.
Is this only limited to firefox at your system or similar to mine?

Regards
Chris
