Re: Mate, not my mate
My problem is that I'm stuck on a vintage look. The window decoration I'd like to set, seems only surviving in XWFM4-format, which isn't very widespread anymore There might be some near-equivalent to whatever window theme you were using before. For alternative window themes go to https://www.mate-l...

Re: Mate, not my mate
I thought Mint 22 comes with kernel 6.8. How did you get kernel 6.10? This one, it's from XanMod.org, He runs all the latest kernels from Linux Kernel Archives, with some tweaks. You'll be surprised by the speed :) And combined with some other PPA's, you almost create a rolling release. Caja seems ...

Background-wallpaper : no way to choose a directory with my personal collection of 3d wallpapers, cannot set a slideshow, ... Yes, it would be nice if Mate/Caja had an easier built-in means of slideshow backgrounds, (other than tediously playing around with an xml file, or have to use compiz, ...)....

Re: Mate, not my mate
Thank you for your input.. HPLiP didn't find my printer. HPLiP / hardware should work independently of the desktop environment. Printer works now. It took the removal of "ippusb" to get it connected. With card reader I can not help. You can try wiki for example: - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/...

Mate, not my mate
The new LM22 is here :) Due to some problems with cardreaders, I switched from XFCE to Mate. First impression : looks good, most hardware is working. HPLiP didn't find my printer. Why is nobody removing ippusb straight OOB ? BeID refused blatantly to accept the card reader. After rebooting several t...

Re: Linux Mint 22 “Wilma” released!
Mint upgrade tool 2024.07.26.2 wants to take down the whole system. Had the same problem upgrading 19 to 20. And I am NOT going to apply this downgrade. Please stay on-topic with your posts. This is the announcement for the ISO. There has not yet been any announcement about an availability of an up...

Code: Select all
sudo dpkg -i *.deb

Re: I can not delete the history URL addresses of Firefox in BleachBit
Fact is that for the second time I feel forced to walk away. Arogancy and 'shut-up-I-know-better' mentality make me nervous. As I said in the Dutch forum after clashing with the man with the stone face, I'm going back to SolidXK. This time I won't be luring in time and again. And I won't advice Mint...

And as usual, no decent standing example of the 'killing' done by that mean bad piece of software. There was given examples in a thread, where you participated. So fact is, you know, that you are wrong. Doing as if this had never happened appears to be "as usual" in this case and lets thi...

Re: I can not delete the history URL addresses of Firefox in BleachBit
High all again, Long time not jumped in, seems I didn't miss anything. Bleachbit-bashers hijacking threads to discourage any potential user, where did I see that more ? And as usual, no decent standing example of the 'killing' done by that mean bad piece of software. Only generallities and no in'dep...

High,
What connection you're using ? Older cards tend to have older connectors, so e.g. HDMI only suppprts 4k since latest standard. Same goes for DP etc....

Re: Systemd Manager - GUI for systemd/systemctl
I know real men only use the command line ;) but for the rest of us, a GUI is preferable. Before I continue; messing with systemd means messing with your system, so don't use this program unless you know what you're doing. Disabling/enabling services could mean you can't boot to the desktop, or giv...

What makes you say so ? I'm running Intel-free since the invention of 64 bit computing by AMD, and I don't know of any issue with that hardware. So, maybe elaborate some ?Hoser Rob wrote:If you have an AMD graphics card I'd suggest avoiding 18 like the plague for now.

Re: Slightly messed Munt 18 installation
I installed Mint 18 over a Mageia 5 based system. I wanted to retain the original /home partition, reformatting the remaining root and swap. That went well except that there a new empty /home and the original is shown as a separate device. I would like to delete the new home and reinstate the old. ...
