So I'm just starting my day and opened up Chrome to do a quick lookup. But then, I got redirected to defendsearch dot com. Re: 18.3 to 19 Upgrade Error

Success! Got it fixed by reseting system locales and dpkg configure. Details: As suggested by Karl, I've read from the Upgrade from Mint 18.3 to 19 failed and tried the suggested fix. On that topic, we have similar error during the upgrade. perl: warning: Setting locale failed. The above error was f...

[SOLVED] 18.3 to 19 Upgrade Error

Have you upgraded your Mint like the same route that I did? Well, for me I followed this post: https://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/2416 Then run through this error, which prevented me from upgrading my system. Luckily, I got Time Shift installed, and got my system back in working condition...

Re: Kernel 4.13.0-25 Cinnamon 3.6.7 Crashes

Thank you very much for responding.

Yeah, I know how do to that, the thing is...

I need to retain the 4.13 Kernel. From what I understood, it should provide security against Meltdown and Spectre Vuls.

Re: OpenVPN with NordVPN has DNS leak

I've used NordVPN to stream geo restricted videos. My simple workaround was to modify manually my DNS setting. I set to Google DNS and kaboom! DNS Leak gone.

Re: Problem with left speaker - no sound

The speaker is fine, also my cable connection. I'm sure it is working - how sure am I? Because it works well in my Windows Instance and when hooked to my mobile phone. So speaker and cable connection isn't the problem.

Any more ideas?

Problem with left speaker - no sound

I'm using a Gigabyte EX58-UD3R Motherboard with my Linux Mint 18.2 Sonya 64bit 4.10.0-42-generic. I'm using ALSA for my onboard audio chip Realtek ALC888. For the past couple years, I worked around this issue by using an RCA Audio coupler and connected it to the right speaker connector of my 2.1 spe...

Re: Upload File Explorer Preference Change To Have The Address Bar

Yeah, thank you! I know Nemo, it's the window that pop up when you upload a file - don't know what it's called :-) Or... that thing still part of Nemo? Like Caja?

It worked for me:

Code: Select all

CTRL + L
I hope someone would jump in and tell us if we can set the defaults.

Mick-Cork & Moem, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Re: Upload File Explorer Preference Change To Have The Address Bar

I am aware of what that button can do, it toggles the bar on/off - but only for downloading files.

The behavior is different when uploading a file. That bar/button is not on the toolbar, like the one shown in the image above (the Open File box) - enclosed in red line box.

I'm on Linuxmint 18, and I want this: https://i.imgur.com/AtqUrwH.jpg Instead of this: https://i.imgur.com/gVphIsq.jpg Is there any settings for this - so ...

Shutdown or Poweroff Command in Linuxmint 18 - Root Privilege No Longer Needed?

Okay, I have a new instance of Linuxmint, it's version 18. I observed this yesterday when powering off my machine. I've accidentally typed: $ poweroff ...and my machine powered off. Then I say... whatda! I'm supposed to type in `sudo poweroff` or `sudo shutdown -h now` - but now, it did not require ...
