Re: Ubuntu Devs Testing Chromium Browser Transition From Deb To Snap Package - How will this affect Mint?
This is Googlew deciding to move to a snap format, not Ubuntu. It does make me think that they're not so serious about supporting chromium for Linux anymore though. No, it isn't. Google maintains Chrome on Linux, not Chromium. The Ubuntu developers are switching from packaging Chromium as a deb to ...

Re: Ubuntu Devs Testing Chromium Browser Transition From Deb To Snap Package - How will this affect Mint?
I should note that I don't have a problem with snaps or flatpaks, in fact I use both. There are some issues though, such as theming and other desktop integration stuff. I was just wondering what Mint's plan would be (if they would have a plan at all) regarding this.

Re: No Flash Update?
Has Mint stopped flash updates or are they just slow? I don't have the current version 32.0.0.207. I know I can update it manually, but would rather it come as usual from Mint. Flash updates come from Canonical, makers of Ubuntu, which Mint uses the repos of. Can you type this in the terminal: apt ...

Ubuntu Devs Testing Chromium Browser Transition From Deb To Snap Package - How will this affect Mint?
https://www.linuxuprising.com/2019/06/ubuntu-devs-testing-chromium-browser.html Ubuntu will soon offer Chromium browser as a snap package instead of a regular deb package. This is not only for the upcoming Ubuntu 19.10 Eoan Ermine, but also for the already released Ubuntu 19.04 (Disco Dingo), and fo...

Re: [SOLVED] Why isn't Lutris in Software Manager?
Yes, I know you can link to the PPA and install it with apt-get (which I did). But I'd trust it more and feel more comfortable if it was available from the Software Manager. I know it's no big deal, but I'm just curious... The Lutris team officially maintains the Lutris ppa. Also, Strider (main lut...

Re: Reinstall Default Theme
Hi, I've been a dope and managed to delete the contents of /usr/share/themes and now my own theme is acting weirdly. I don't know which theme it is that I need to reinstall so I would like to restore the contents of this folder. How do I do this? That's why you use Timeshift backups! You did make a...

Don't install daily builds unless you're an experienced linux user and you've made backups / know how to revert back to the stable version.

Re: Previous repositories still needed for WINE?
If you want the wine development or staging versions you will still need the winehq repo. If you want to stick with the stable wine, the mint repository should be fine provided they keep it up to date.

The new community site redesign is pretty nice. I noticed a problem with the "avatar button" on the top right of the page. When clicking it, the menu disappears too quickly. This is on the latest Firefox. It only seems to happen on the main page of that site. https://i.imgur.com/wqGeLX4.gif

Re: PlayOnLinux and Phoenicis PlayOnLinux
In Mint 19 (not 19.1) Software Manager lists both POL v4.2.12-1 and Phoenicis POL 5.0-alpha-2. I have POL v4.2.12 installed and working fine. Can I install the Phoenicis POL v5 alongside it without conflicts? And would that allow me to experiment with Wine 4.0 without installing it "publicly&q...

Re: caution on upgrading to Wine 4.0 bionic
I was going to say nonsense, there is no wine 4.0 in the bionic repos (and in fact there isn't), but as it turns out Clem put his spin of the winehq 4.0 packages into the LM 19.0 and LM 19.1 repos today. I could have understood that as part of a point release maybe but just silently pushing a full ...

Re: When for FF 66.0.4?
66.0.4 just hit the Ubuntu repository. If you use the default settings in Mint you'll receive Firefox from the Mint repository, instead of the Ubuntu one. That may take a bit longer to get updated. You can set Mint to prefer Firefox from the Ubuntu repositories using this guide: https://easylinuxtip...
