Re: Best Pictures Viewing Utility

I think Pix may tick all your boxes. I don't use it for just viewing pictures, because the standard image viewer is fine for that, so the subject of your topic does not seem to fit the contents. But as soon as I want to make simple edits lke cropping, turning, resizing, color adjustments... then Pi...

Re: WINE Extra Installs (Geko ETC)

After trying to uninstall WINE for the last few days, I came across a site that told me to delete the .wine folder. I did that and discovered that WINE will rebuild .wine and ask you to download Geko and Mono.

Re: WINE Extra Installs (Geko ETC)

I did that. I think that only works the first time. I even tried WINE HQ and couldn't understand what they were talking about.

[Solved] Resize Partition

I messed up installing Mint and the partition is too small. Can I use Gparted to take the end freespace and add it to the larger free space and resize sda7? I tried and it says I can't.

[Solved] WINE Extra Installs (Geko ETC)

I installed WINE 6.0 on Mint 20.1 and when I was given the opportunity to install Mono and Geko, but I declined at time thinking I could have the chance later. How can I install them if I declined already?

Re: Off this morning for first covid 19 vaccine jab

I was eligible for the vaccine on Monday (19th) and I got an appointment the next day. Other than a sore arm, I'm fine. I am anxious about the second shot since that is the one I heard is the worst.

The Macpro 2009 have 2 quad cores xeons, that is more than enough.

Why not give it a try in LiveUsb ?
I did that and it worked out well. The mouse cursor was a bit zippy, even with the sensitivity turned all the way down and the text looked a bit.... off.

He said he "didn't want an external drive option", which I'm chalking up to misunderstanding of its importance,
It's not.
Regardless, I hope he can use your SFTP suggestion. I think that's a great way to go, to be perfectly honest.
I used SFTP. It worked. Thank you.

Re: Transfer Files From Mac To Mint Across Network

I am talking about a LAN transfer... I'm not talking about sharing across a cable ISP (where did you even get the idea that I suggested that??) The site you linked to said to turn on file sharing. I heard that doing so on a cable ISP is bad. Cable ISPs = LAN and turning on file sharing and printer ...

Re: Mint 20 on MacBook Pro

It really depends on the specs - What would be the problem areas? Memory? Graphics? Like I posted in Oct I got LM Cinnamon running on a MacBook Pro over a year ago and it ran OK and I was impressed with the graphics. Would that be 19.x or 20.x? I am posting this reply on an old 13" MacBook (ci...

Re: Transfer Files From Mac To Mint Across Network

I guess I don't understand... This shouldn't be that hard. Well, I am new to this. Have you tried simply creating a network share on the Mac and tried connecting to it from your Linux machine? You're on the same network, right? You can then just transfer all the files across the network in Nemo (th...

Re: Transfer Files From Mac To Mint Across Network

Create a baby HTTP server on the Mac and use your Linux web browser to download files from it. I don't know how to do that. On the linux machine open a web browser and connect to the http server on the Mac - in my case it was http://192.168.1.234:8000/ How do I find that? EDIT : To stop the HTTP se...

I found this and I was planning on using it when I install on my Macbook Pro. Is this still relevant? I.E. even though it says Mint 17, would this work for Mint 20.1?

I don't have USB3, the best way is for me to LAN the files to another computer. I want to install Mint on this Mac and need the room.

If you don't specify what those prospects were then you're just going to waste other people's time when they reply to you with things you've already considered. And, if you don't specify what features you want, you will again waste other people's time when they reply with things you've already cons...
