Re: LM 21 says "[Firmware Bug]: Your BIOS is broken" on boot
Tried both of these at /etc/default/grub but neither of them removed the firmware bug message. GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash intremap=no_x2apic_optout" GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash intremap=no_x2apic_optout nox2apic" It turned out that Intel virtualization ...

Re: LM 21 says "[Firmware Bug]: Your BIOS is broken" on boot
cant really tell whether this is your motherboard https://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/B150M%20Pro4/index.asp#BIOS but if it is then the BIOS dates don't seem to match - I'm just confused. It is my motherboard, and the update I also downloaded (7.30, dated at 2018/3/13). The file itself is last modified...

LM 21 says "[Firmware Bug]: Your BIOS is broken" on boot
After installing LM 21 Xfce couple days ago to replace my older LM 19.3 Xfce, I started getting following error message on boot: kernel: [ 0.075900] DMAR: [Firmware Bug]: No firmware reserved region can cover this RMRR [0x0000000078800000-0x0000000088ffffff], contact BIOS vendor for fixes kernel: [ ...

Re: Logitech C270 webcam showing white screen on LM 19.3 Xfce
Thanks for suggestion, but I already returned the device to seller, who made a warranty claim to Logitech. We'll see what they will say, a replacing camera should arrive in a week or so if they decide to replace it.

Re: Logitech C270 webcam showing white screen on LM 19.3 Xfce
I might still try it to my LM 19.3 Xfce laptop. I did this but the issue remains still the same both on cheese and Webcamtests.com Have you tried it with zoom , there is a 64bit deb package that might work with it. Haven't tried with Zoom, and don't know why it would work just with that, but none o...

Logitech C270 webcam showing white screen on LM 19.3 Xfce
Logitech C270 webcam started to show white screen on 11th May 2021, after having worked fluently for around a year. On the same day earlier, a new kernel and some other updates were installed. Webcam was able to recover after some time of showing white screen at 11th May, but no longer at 12th May e...

Re: Resizing and/or combining / and /home partitions
I have decided to reinstall LM 19.3 to single partition with / , /home and swap file. Well, it seems I changed my mind and have decided to wait LM 22 Xfce to be published in summer 2022, and change simultaneously to it. Until that, I'll run sudo apt-get autoremove periodically to get more free spac...

Re: Resizing and/or combining / and /home partitions
Thank you for all the responses. I have decided to reinstall LM 19.3 to single partition with / , /home and swap file. Computer is not a laptop and I'm not planning to hibernate. One advantage would be to get full size potential from my relatively small SSD, as I -might- be using the /home partition...

Re: Resizing and/or combining / and /home partitions
I would confirm my backups of all my important stuff, wipe the drive, and install LM 19.3 new, using a single partition for / , /home , and the swap file. Is the main reason you wouldn't use Gparted to wipe off current /home and swap partitions, and resize the / partition to cover the whole disk, t...

[SOLVED] Resizing and/or combining / and /home partitions
I have a following partition structure on my 120 GB SSD. First OS I installed for this disk was Lubuntu back in 2016, and reserved only 20 GB size for it. Thought it would be enough for LM 19.3 too, but looks like it's running out of space now. Seems disk space recommendation for LM in general is at...

Re: Is it possible to place a window on top of fullscreen?
Tried the Mini Clock FF extension https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/mini_clock/ but unfortunately it resets it's settings on each FF restart. It also asks some privileges I think it doesn't need for it's basic function. Thank you for your assistance @secureIT and @all41. As per now, I a...

Re: Is it possible to place a window on top of fullscreen?
For a start, I tested out of curiosity if something would work on my spare laptop HP 6730b which has LM Xfce 19.3 installed too. I tried only to toggle "Always on Top" from window title, but it did not stay on top of FF fullscreen. Have installed both OS from same linuxmint-19.3-xfce-64bit...

Re: Is it possible to place a window on top of fullscreen?
I tried now also xclock ...... and it worked on top of browser that is in fullscreen-mode. Based on the videos you sent, your Firefox is not in fullscreen mode, instead, it is just maximized . To enter into fullscreen mode you should press F11 when having a focus on FF window, or alternatively go t...

Re: Is it possible to place a window on top of fullscreen?
In order for it to work as you want, it is important that you follow the order in which the applications are opened. You should first open the application that you want to stay "on top" and give it the right-click on the window-title bar selecting "stay on top " (or by using the...

Re: Is it possible to place a window on top of fullscreen?
Maybe a Firefox add-on clock would work out for you--there are several. Also if you use Compiz window manager you can set a Window Rule to keep a window (such as a desktop clock) on top and this will work for fullscreen FF Thanks for the tip on FF extensions and Compiz wnidow manager, I might give ...

Re: Is it possible to place a window on top of fullscreen?
Well, found some sort of workaround by using notifications. #!/bin/bash # notify-test.sh MSG_TOPIC="Current time" TIME=$(date '+%H:%M:%S') MSG_BODY="<span font='26px'><b>${TIME}</b></span>" APP_NAME="Notification test" EXP_TIME="60810" # 60820 is too high for ...

[GAVE UP] Is it possible to place a window on top of fullscreen?
Is it possible to place any application window on top of some application that is in fullscreen mode? Have now been using Logitech HD C270 for many video calls on couple services. The camera and it's microphone seem to work on LM 19.3 without any issues.

Re: Which web camera to buy for LM 18.0 Xfce?
Hi HAWR, and thanks for asking. Got the camera last Thursday, unpacked it some days ago, this morning took a first video call with it. Seems to work fluently on LM 18.0 and 19.3. Cannot compare video quality yet so well with other web cameras. Small issue I realized only when plugging it to my deskt...
