Re: Pidgin does not show notifications anymore

Thanks for the reminder. I guess I was to some degree aware of that some settings might remain on these directories. Based on a quick look I did not find any pidgin or purple -named folders under .config or .cache.

Re: Pidgin does not show notifications anymore

I tried first to reinstall just pidgin , then remove pidgin-otr and pidgin-privacy-please , then reinstall pidgin again and create a vanilla profile for it, but none of it was able to turn notifications back on. I think I will give up with my efforts with this at the moment, as I guess although they...

Re: Pidgin does not show notifications anymore

I did those steps, but Notifications -dialog does not appear any different. Also, reinstalling and opening it did not create a new xfce4-notifyd.xml file, in case it should have done that. Preview was working normally before and after these experiments. Also, network manager (or xfce4-indicator-plug...

Re: Pidgin does not show notifications anymore

Here are the outputs of those commands. Looks like pretty much the same than on those dialogs. ~ $ ls -la ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/ total 80 drwx------ 2 user user 4096 Jun 20 16:33 . drwxr-xr-x 3 user user 4096 Aug 14 2016 .. -rw-r--r-- 1 user user 766 Aug 15 2016 displays.xml -rw...

Re: Pidgin does not show notifications anymore

That's strange. I have it with 18.3 Xfce. My system is 18.0 Xfce, maybe that's what explains it. ~ $ cat /etc/linuxmint/info RELEASE=18 CODENAME=sarah EDITION="Xfce 32-bit" DESCRIPTION="Linux Mint 18 Sarah" It also seems that these features you described on Settings editor are not available for xfc...

Check Menu > Settings > Notifications > Applications to see if Pidgin is enabled there.
I don't have Applications -page or selection on Notifications window (see attachment).

Do you know if this information can be viewed or changed manually?

Re: Pidgin does not show notifications anymore

No one has this issue?

It does not occur on my laptop:

Ubuntu (Lubuntu desktop) 18.04.02 LTS
Pidgin 2.12.0
Privacy please 0.7.1
Message notification 2.12.0

And it is not related to Message notification plugin, it seems, as it was not enabled on my laptop.

[GAVE UP] Pidgin does not show notifications anymore

Pidgin has stopped showing notifications at some point. By notifications I mean these messages that come on top-right corner of the screen if any of the Pidgin windows is not active, and some buddy logs in or sends a message. I suspect this might be related to Privacy please plugin which I installed...

Re: Pidgin 2.10.12 does not save privacy status for Jabber/XMPP accounts

A third-party plugin called Pidgin-privacy-please seems to solve this problem. https://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/ThirdPartyPlugins#SecurityandPrivacy It is available also from repositories - at least for LM 18. sudo apt-get install pidgin-privacy-please Tools -> Plugins -> [X] Privacy Please 0.7.1 ->...

Re: Pidgin 2.10.12 does not save privacy status for Jabber/XMPP accounts

It seems this is known, but not yet fixed bug for two years already https://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/17159 Is this [privacy] status saved somewhere in the config files or on connected XMPP server's side? Privacy status seems to be in blist.xml <account proto='prpl-jabber' name='user@server/resourc...

Re: Pidgin does not save privacy status

It also seems the last status ( Available/Away/Offline ) I choose is not saved at the moment. These statuses seem to be saved on ~/.purple/accounts.xml . I wonder if this is just a local copy. <statuses> <status type='available' name='Available' active='true'> <attributes/> </status> ...

[SOLVED] Pidgin 2.10.12 does not save privacy status for Jabber/XMPP accounts

I'm using Pidgin 2.10.12 on LM 18 Xfce 32-bit. I have two XMPP accounts configured. If I try to change privacy status for these accounts from Tools -> Privacy to anything else than Block only the users below , it is changed for current session, but the change is lost when I close and start Pidgin ne...

Re: XFCE has lost its mind! [SOLVED]

I had the same problem in my LM Xfce 18 with following symptoms. When I restarted my desktop for the first time after installing some updates to Virtualbox -related packages, I got the following error message: Plugin "Indicator Plugin" unexpectedly left the panel, do you want to restart it? The plug...

This bug seems to be fixed a while ago by update on Tor package. The bug above has still it's status as New, although there is a comment written 2017-03-10
no longer affects: ubuntu
in the end.

Re: SSH permissions on remote host

There are ways you could put restrictions on the server end if you control the server, but if you only have a user account there, and no administrative access, I guess you can't worry about that. Looks like you are right on this. I contacted the server administrator, and they also said that there w...

Re: SSH permissions on remote host

Don't think you want to use the command option. Duplicity will need to be able to run more than one command. I tried to do something similar than in this thread, but for me the $SSH_ORIGINAL_COMMAND environment variable remains empty, and connection gets closed after executing the script once. Inse...

SSH permissions on remote host

I want duplicity to take automatic backups from my desktop to remote host where I have user account. I have mostly followed this tutorial, except not using GPG keys for backup encryption and running duplicity as normal user instead of root. I have created SSH keys and copied them into remote server'...

Well, I guess this is nothing catastrophic then, so I mark this as solved. Would be curious to know what is the effect of this - if there is any.

Re: Xfce 18 - AppArmor denies Tor service

It seems that this is already known - but not yet fixed - bug ( #1611113 ). In a first post there seems to be a workaround for it too, namely how to disable tor profile from apparmor. Edit: Well, this workaround mentioned does not seem to work for me, at least not after reboot: mkdir /tor@default.se...

Anyone having the same problem?

Tor seems to start and work fine if I start it manually from terminal.
