Partition and folder selection probs in Dolphin
I'm very new to Linux. I just installed Mint 17.3 KDE. In the file manager, it lists the partitions on the left by size. When I open one, it shows on the right under my user name as a long alphanumeric string. How can I get it to display sda1, sdb3, etc? Also when I try to set up a background slides...

See if you can update to the latest proprietary video card driver. That may help.

This is why I make regular full image backups with Macrium Reflect- Easetodous is also good.
