Re: New Dropbox System Requirements

I can't say I'm thrilled at what they are doing but I'm breathing a short-term sigh of relief that my respective work and home systems would seem to be within the new requirements.

But long-term, I'm definitely looking at some of the alternatives discussed here.

Testify! Thank you Mods!

I know only too well the patience and hard work it takes - years back I was not only a mod on big forum but head mod coordinating a team of moderators on it. The happy dance I did when after several years of that I decided to step down - shook the neighborhood!

I think you should be fine with software manager version.

Once you install it - Dropbox updates itself regularly. At least it certainly has for me.

Re: Kmymoney 5 locale on Tara Cinnamon

In Kmymoney - did you go to Settings Menu, select KDE Language Setting and then go to the tab country Sorry but where did you see a KDE Language in Kmymoney?? there's no such a menu. Anyway, is your calendar applet behaving the same way? I have no problem with my calendar applet settings. Just go t...

Agree with the consensus that you should definitely stay around. You'd be missed and are definitely a valuable addition.

Re: Bug with Firefox Version: 61.0.1+linuxmint1+sylvia

Can't say that it helps except for elimination since I don't have that problem in 18.3 Cinnamon (Sylvia) running the latest firefox. (and I'm using the 4.15 kernel)

So maybe it is KDE?

Re: Clean install cinnamon 19 fails to install grub

Check out this announcement thread viewtopic.php?f=90&t=273058 for advice/details.

Short version - it's a known problem - you need to install without being connected to the internet. Then when installation is done, re-connect your internet connection and run updates.

Re: Canonical quality control

Between the mesa thing recently, the kernel and the grub install issue - that is a lot in s short time. The Mesa issue upon upgrading? That was ultimately purely a Mint issue, no wrong-doing on the Ubuntu side. Yeah, I see your point. It didn't break their stuff but was a backporting that caused pr...

Re: Canonical quality control

Between the mesa thing recently, the kernel and the grub install issue - that is a lot in a short time. I'm chalking it up to the pressure of the new 18.04 release and trying to prep the .1. Plus the whole "we're just trying to get bought out" by the company can't be helping morale. I've noticed a c...

I don't use it as my primary but for some old closed accounts so ignore me as ignorant if what I say isn't relevant.

In Kmymoney - did you go to Settings Menu, select KDE Language Setting and then go to the tab country and set that and then go to the Date/Time tab and adjust as needed?

Re: GRUB bootloader problem!

Other's have found this - the trick is to install without being connected to the internet and then once done plug back in and run the updates.

Discussed in this thread viewtopic.php?f=46&t=272886

It worked for me. Still annoying.

Re: Grub EFI amd 64 signed signed package fails on clean install mint 19

after unhooking my modem from the Internet I was able to install Mint 19 Cinnamon. Tonight when getting more updates I see there was one with a signed grub. I have to assume the problem is fixed. Hope that the ISO has been fixed or at least the signed part that is in the ISO has been fixed at Ubunt...

Will try again with it unplugged from the internet!

Re: Linuxmint 19 - Cinnamon: Dropbox - Can't Monitor Dropbox Folder

Interesting. I haven't installed 19 yet (still on 18.3 cinnamon) but am contemplating it this week after I install and test on my laptop first.

Hopefully this is resolved soon since dropbox is fairly important to me.

Re: Kernel 4.15.0-24 won't boot passed grub - Mint 19 Mate

Frankly at this point they should just block the -24 from their end. I mean, it runs flawlessly on my system but so many users run into issues that I think it would be justified. Admittedly, saying this may provoke irony but I've have not problems with it either. Part of me is contemplating rolling...

Some forums are like a group of grumpy old men sitting in rocking chairs on the porch and yelling at the kids to get off of their lawn.
Thankfully Mint Forum is not like that :)
